About the etymology of "李"
There are two main views.
Firstly, the oracle bone inscriptions discovered have the words in the picture below, which should be the word "Li" in the oracle bone inscriptions. Its structure is "wood" on the top and "zi" on the bottom, which means the fruit produced by the trees. . "Li" in oracle bone inscriptions, "Li" in bronze inscriptions, small seal scripts, and Han dynasties?
Secondly, it is believed that the earliest "Li" should be regarded as the ancient bronze inscription in the Warring States period seal, which is "Shang" "木下"子" Structure. However, in the Warring States Period, the "李" in "Chen Yu" was "子" on the left and "木" on the right, which is not the shape it is today; the philologist Shang Chengzuo said that this is the ancient Chinese character "Zi" of Sang Zi, but " "Zi" did not appear until the Qin Dynasty seal script, so there is no conclusive evidence.
Afterwards, the small seal script of the Qin Dynasty evolved into the character "Li" in the Han Li Gang. The upper part of the forked "木" in the seal character shape was written into the current "木" shape, and The circle of "子" in the lower half of the seal character shape was removed and the current "子" shape was written.
