Hu Baogu, 197 1, was born in Wuhu Garden, Anji, Zhejiang, the hometown of Wu Changshuo. Influenced by master Wu Changshuo's art, he studied calligraphy and painting since childhood. He studied under Liu in Huzhou, then under Zhang Pincao of China Academy of Fine Arts and Zhejiang Painting Academy.
