Confidence is based on strength

Recently, my calligraphy teacher always says that I am not confident, but he says that I have already practiced very well. Although the teacher thinks that it is not bad to practice this well in a short period of time, firstly, it is still far from my own requirements, and secondly, among the students who have entered the strong competition early, I cannot feel at ease and think that I have practiced well.

I know that I am indeed not confident enough because my mother scolded, belittled, and treated me harshly when I was a child, but I also look down upon the talented people who are so confident and self-righteous nowadays. I think self-confidence should be based on strong strength, rather than covering your eyes and not looking in the mirror, thinking that you are the most beautiful in the world!

Looking at those blindly confident people showing their ugly face, I hope that I can maintain a clear understanding and full self-knowledge.

There are two kinds of people in the world: one kind of person who says ten when there are five, or even one person who says ten; and a person who says five when there are ten, or even one when there are ten. I prefer the latter, because In this way, you are responsible for others and leave room for change for yourself. But now most people like to do the former, which is euphemistically called: confidence!

A few days ago, there was an instructor in the yoga studio who was said to have returned from India. We had met before, but I didn’t pay much attention to him. A girl who is also a coach said that she was very confident and full of positive energy when chatting with her. She said that India pays more attention to meditation. I also want to make my courses more valuable. How can I miss this great learning opportunity? Go to class quickly.

Unexpectedly, I met a cheerleader, who looked like a cheerleader from beginning to end. She was tall and beautifully dressed. She stepped onto the rosette-shaped podium in one stride and took the lead in applauding. This was because the yoga in this gym was quite authentic and they emphasized meditation before class. The whole class was very quiet except for yoga chanting. Let everyone relax and quiet their body and mind better. I have never seen such a formation before. I quickly clapped a few times and she started talking. She said that in India, we don’t pay attention to posture at all. We focus on breath control and meditation. Then we entered the stage of meditation and breath adjustment. Before I finished my breath, she had already shouted three and a half times to inhale and exhale. Yoga requires deep, long and slow breathing, but you have to do it according to the rhythm of her shouts, otherwise you will be so short of breath that you will be out of breath. Come on, I had no choice but to ignore her loud shouts and follow my own breathing rhythm.

After adjusting the breath, she said that today she mainly taught everyone the postures, but she cleverly said that she did not know how to do the postures in China. She named a posture, and after everyone did it, she was very serious about it. She asked to correct that everyone’s hands had their fingers together, so she asked them to open their fingers and lift their arms from the front. She said they should lift them from both sides, or she said a Sanskrit word, made a simple gesture, and If he didn't do it right, he quickly ran off the stage to correct everyone, saying that he only knew the Sanskrit name and not the Chinese name. Later, he simply asked me to do the Sun Salutations for him, saying that he didn't know what the Sun Salutations were like in China. I felt funny in my heart and didn't know. It’s okay to bring someone from China or India! There may be slight differences in postures in various places, but the basic principles are universal, especially the classic sun salutations...

When it came to the final stage of meditation, she said she wanted to play the recording because she didn’t know how to say meditation in Chinese. She taught all the lyrics in English in India, so I couldn’t help but say that you should substitute one in English. She said she was afraid that everyone wouldn’t understand English, and then she insisted on playing a body relaxation recording and ended the practice.

After it was over, she said unhappily that she was not used to the low quality of people in China. When she applauded, few people responded. Yoga is a far cry from it, so is it more than just self-confidence? You are so confident!

I also know that overconfident people have a strong aura that often makes people intoxicated. Those who promote pyramid schemes, do insurance, give various motivational speeches and sell CDs... you go and see Looking at their conference, the person standing on the stage must be such a shameless and confident person. No matter what he says is true or false, he can make the people below happily believe it to be true and fall into the peach blossom garden by mistake!

Perhaps it is due to lack of self-confidence. It is difficult for me to fall into the beautiful illusion they describe, but I can always maintain a clear heart and a cold eye, and I have an immune system against all deceptions.

Just like the yoga instructor in front of me, when some members were blinded by her aura of coming back from India, I was just speechless: first of all, I was curious about which country she was from. She kept talking about us in India, but she was just following her. My husband used to be a housewife, and she also said how popular she was when she taught as a substitute in India. I think the Indian people in the birthplace of yoga are too easy to fool. Secondly, I didn’t understand her logic. If you can meditate well, you don’t need to do meditation and asanas. Why don't you have to correct everyone's posture? In the end, she will meditate in English, but she can’t speak Chinese. As long as she is a native English speaker, she doesn’t want to think about herself as a native Chinese speaker. This reason can be explained! After a class, I want to warn everyone: Those yoga instructors who say they don’t pay attention to postures are just hooligans!

Later, the girl who admired her asked me about my impressions of the class. I expressed my impressions very implicitly, and then she revealed to me that she was not good at any postures at all, so she came to the gym to learn them. Yogi, but extremely confident. Because she came back from India, the boss used this as a pretense to let her teach as a substitute to alleviate the recent crisis of insufficient coaches. But she looked so excited that she wanted to die, as if she were a yoga master, but how could a real yogi be like this?

Sure enough, gradually everyone saw the clues, and as time went by, the secret would eventually be revealed.

Just like when my daughter was in junior high school, my sister’s neighbor’s child, Yangyang, was in the same year as my daughter and went to the same school. However, my daughter was admitted and Yangyang paid for it. My sister is a teacher and she attaches great importance to learning. Every time her daughter goes there, she always asks about her grades. She also says that Yangyang’s mother also asked her daughter to work harder when she asked where Yangyang’s exams were at school. I'm also surprised that every time the top ten students take the exam, the top scorer in a single subject will be announced in the bulletin board with a photo. My daughter has been in it a few times. I have never seen Yangyang, but I don't really care. After the high school entrance exam, my brother-in-law asked Yangyang how he did in the exam. Yangyang said confidently that it was okay, but my daughter said calmly, and her brother-in-law said she still had to work hard!

Unexpectedly, when the results came out, although my daughter did not do well in the exam, she scored more than 630 points, and it was no problem to go to any school. However, Yangyang scored more than 470 points and could not even go to a middle-level high school. My brother-in-law was a college student. It’s surprising, oh, this is so subversive of people’s outlook!

Looking for connections to give gifts, Yangyang finally went to a middle-level high school. Soon Yangyang’s mother and Yangyang were very proud and confident. According to her mother, Yangyang made rapid progress, and how was her ranking? This time, my brother-in-law and sister no longer believe it. He said that he finally knows what it means to be ignorant and fearless. Because he knows very little and doesn’t know what is right or wrong, he always thinks that he is the best! Sure enough, the college entrance examination came, and my daughter ended her high school studies satisfactorily with the second best score in liberal arts in the school, while Yangyang reluctantly went to an unknown school as an art candidate. Yangyang's mother angrily said to her sister: " Yangyang didn't perform well, but your niece performed exceptionally well!" My sister was very angry because of this and mentioned it in front of me many times. I smiled and said, "Why are you so angry? "You said it!"

I feel ashamed for Yangyang's mother. She usually speaks so arrogantly, but how will she deal with it when the truth finally comes out? If it were my words, I would be too shameless to speak to others, so I don't dare to do it at ordinary times. What audacious nonsense!

But now such people are on the street. They learn a few so-called positive chicken soup words from WeChat articles, and coupled with their bold and shameless shamelessness, they dare to talk about themselves in extravagant ways. It’s called self-confidence; it’s considered a skill to confuse some people who don’t have the ability to discern. But many important moments in life have to be revealed. I can only say: self-confidence without strong strength as a foundation is conceited, narcissistic, and arrogant!
