From: Dongshan Good Price, Dongshan Zen Master
Original: "Don't look for him, stay away from me. I'm going alone today, and I have to meet a canal everywhere I go. The canal is me today, and I am not the canal today. It should be such a meeting, it will be like this. "
Interpretation: Don't look for me (from others), the road won't be far. Although I go alone, it will be very smooth. I seem to be me now, but I'm not me either. I should experience it personally in order to truly understand my heart.
"Don't ask him for it, stay away from me." This sentence refers to the Tao or Buddha nature, which has always been here. Don't look everywhere, it's all in vain. Later, "you have to wait a while to get the agreement." This means that we should kiss the material evidence like this, instead of seeking the law outside the law and seeking the heart outside the law. Only when logic is gone can it fit the original Buddha nature.
Extended data:
The so-called enlightenment is to see nature clearly, understand our nirvana and quiet nature, and "see" our Tathagata nature consistent with the Buddha. What is our true nature? Cleanliness, equality, inaction and boundless.
The heart is a mirror, it is just a mirror. Can the mirror see itself in this mirror? What you can't do, since you can't do it, you can't see your sincerity if you do something with your heart! Besides, no matter what you do, it won't work.
Here is the article "Heart Lamp": it is impossible to observe your heart with another one. Nothing is being observed and nothing can be observed, but! The object of observation is the observer himself. What's on your mind at the moment? Your heart is the idea itself, and this idea is your heart at this moment.
This is "the canal is mine today". What about "I am not a canal today"? We have seen a cat. It looks like a cat in the mirror, but is the mirror a cat? Obviously not. A mirror can be anything, but not all "what".
