Ouyang Zhongshi, a famous calligrapher, died of illness. What achievements did he make in this field before his death?

Established the calligraphy discipline.

In ancient times, famous poets in China were also accomplished in calligraphy, such as Lu Ji and Yan Zhenqing. They not only love calligraphy, but also create fonts with their own unique charm. Many original calligraphy works have been handed down to this day, and it is impossible to measure their value with money. What later generations can do is to prepare enough ink, find inspiration in practice and try to imitate the font style of predecessors. Or integrate a variety of styles into their masterpieces, and most calligraphy training starts from the inherent mode and lacks proper rules and regulations. It can be said that before Mr. Ouyang Lao founded the calligraphy discipline, this field was still quite chaotic.

Although Chinese characters have experienced the most primitive pictographic description, various beautification after the rise of civilization, and various simplification stages made by later generations to facilitate writing, their essential laws have not fundamentally changed. We can grasp the profound meaning behind every word we see according to the law. Only by applying its true meaning can students read better, and when writing with a brush, they can consider many aspects and decide the angle of writing and the weight of using ink. True calligraphy is not a stereotyped description, but should be integrated with philosophical considerations to make the handwriting more aura.

Mr Ouyang was over eighty years old when he founded this subject. The motivation for him to persist is to let more students know China Chinese characters from the root, understand the true meaning of calligraphy, and better spread the traditional culture of China. His contribution to calligraphy is unprecedented. Although he holds many posts and has made great achievements in academic circles, he always thinks that he is a member of the majority of teachers and there is nothing special about him. He devoted his life to teaching until his death.
