Wang Jun’s biography

Be a person of good character and work with high moral standards - Wang Jun, a flower-and-bird painter

Based on tradition and determined to create something new, how to interpret tradition has always been one of the topics of debate in the Chinese painting circles. There are different opinions, including the theory of complete inheritance, the theory of starting from scratch, and the theory of inheriting and innovating at the same time, etc. The focus of the debate is on the form and brushwork techniques of Chinese painting. How to understand tradition and its true meaning is an issue that all comrades engaged in the study and creation of Chinese painting need to seriously consider. Tradition is a kind of spirit, a phenomenon that condenses a nation’s region, culture, beliefs, temperament, etc.

It can be summarized as a serious creative attitude, a creative method that unites nature and man, a profound, powerful, broad, and concise artistic style, an inclusive tolerance that can accommodate all rivers, and unique national art forms, namely poetry, calligraphy, and painting. It is an organic and unified synthesis of printing and printing, rather than referring to a specific painting method and technique. Plagiarizing the practices of predecessors is by no means an inheritance, but a bad behavior of taking shortcuts and taking advantage of opportunities. Wang Jun, a graduate of our college, has a good understanding of the true connotation and spirit of tradition and applied it to his own study and artistic practice. Be meticulous when studying, carefully complete each work, and repeatedly consider the concept, organization, color and handling of contradictions in each creation, so that the work can be more complete and unified, and achieve both form and spirit. In the process of artistic practice, based on life, he understands the mysteries and magic of nature, captures fleeting impressions and feelings, and makes the creative method of the unity of nature and man confirmed in him. In his works, whether they are wild flowers in the mountains, small farm scenes or commonly expressed flowers, they are full of vitality and strong appeal. Wang Jun's simple and loyal character enabled him to find the simplicity and innocence of Han portrait bricks in the tradition, and the deep national soul in numerous stone carvings. From the paintings of the Tang, Song and Ming Dynasties, he got the inspiration of Chinese painting. Essence. All these are integrated into his works, making them simple, concise and pure in style, leaving a strong national consciousness and impression on the audience. On the basis of inheriting tradition, Wang Jun is following his own development path and has achieved remarkable results. His works have won many awards in national exhibitions, and he has successfully held many personal exhibitions in Taiyuan, Tianjin and other places. His character and paintings have also received widespread attention from all walks of life and unanimous praise from seniors in the painting field. But he has always been humble, cautious, and good at learning. He absorbs useful things from various sister arts or works of different forms to enrich and enrich himself, which embodies the traditional tolerance and capacity. In order to highlight his national character, he worked hard to learn calligraphy, seal cutting, and read diligently. At the same time, he studied the expressive power of brush and ink to hone his brush and ink skills, thereby moving towards a higher realm of art and becoming a magnificent and unique work in the Chinese painting garden. Mei Fu suffered a bitter cold

In the 1980s, I taught at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. A student who had a simple and honest appearance, studied hard, and was diligent and inquisitive caught my attention. His academic performance was among the best, especially his performance in flower and bird painting. His artistic talent had already begun to show, and he was a talent that could be cultivated. This student is also my fellow student from Shanxi - Wang Jun. When he was studying in school, we had many contacts. He often came to ask for advice with his paintings. I am also very happy to meet such a studious student. In 1986, Wang Jun returned to Shanxi after graduating from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. In the following period, his works can also be seen in some exhibitions or albums. Especially at the beginning of this century, more than ten years after his graduation, he returned to Tianjin with a batch of works and held a report exhibition. In this exhibition, this batch of works was seen in a relatively concentrated manner. Regardless of the huge scrolls or the oversized sketches, they are all full of vitality, fresh and elegant, giving visitors a sense of admiration after seeing them for three days. His paintings are full of vitality and youthful vitality, which come from the experience and accumulation of life; from his love and perception of nature; from his passion for the beauty of nature. As the saying goes, "Paintings provide nourishment to life, and life uses paintings to express its spirit." Wang Jun's paintings are free and skillful, soft yet firm, and full of charm. Pen and ink are the essence of oriental painting and the carrier of Chinese painting art.

Wang Jun attaches great importance to the study of excellent traditions, but he is not clinging to the old and rigid, but drawing on the strengths of others for his own use. He can conduct in-depth research on the good pens and inks of various ancient and modern schools, so that the pen and ink interest in today's works can be achieved. Wang Jun’s paintings are neither crazy nor kitsch. In today's Chinese painting world, there are many colors and schools. There are pretentiousness and vulgarity, but Wang Jun does not follow the crowd. "Painting is the voice of the heart". His paintings are developed and innovated on the basis of inheriting tradition. It is both elegant and popular, with similar appearance and spiritual preparation; pleasing to the eye, bright and fresh; it is its perception of the beauty of nature, and the result of the harmonious unity of its expression form and picture connotation, expression skills and aesthetics. Wang Jun has achieved such achievements by studying and going deep into life for many years. He has been calm, perseverant, visited teachers and friends, and accumulated accumulated knowledge. There is no limit to art. If you don't advance, you will retreat. If you travel a hundred miles, you will be half-ninety. The art of Chinese painting is broad and profound, as Mr. Pan Tianshou said: "Painting should have noble moral character, grand ambitions, transcendent insights, profound knowledge, and a broad life, and then you can reach the pinnacle." I would like to use this to inspire others. *Mian.
