Canglang Pavilion is located in the south of Suzhou. This is a garden named after a pavilion. The garden of Qian Yuanlin, the king of Guangling in wuyue in the Five Dynasties, was gradually abandoned. The fame of Canglang Pavilion began in the fourth year of the Northern Song Dynasty (1044), when the poet Su Shunqin built a pavilion in the garden.
Su Shunqin took part in the reform school headed by Fan Zhongyan, and talked about court affairs many times. He dared to say what the people couldn't say, was hated by the evil (conservative) forces, and disdained the people. Retreat to Suzhou to buy this place and build a pavilion called Canglang Pavilion.
There is a stone pavilion on the top of the mountain, with a cornice upturned. The pavilion is called Canglang Pavilion. A couplet is engraved on the stone pillar: the breeze and bright moon are priceless, and there is love near the water and far away from the mountain. This pair of couplets was collected by Liang Zhangju, Governor of Jiangsu Province, in memory of Ouyang Xiu and Su Shunqin during Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty, but it did not exist when the museum was built.
The first part is Ouyang Xiu's poem Canglang Pavilion, and the second part is Su Shunqin's poem Crossing Suzhou. Mr. Liang wrote it many times and felt dissatisfied. Therefore, although the sentences were combined, they were not written on the pavilion. Until the late Qing Dynasty, Yu Yue, a famous scholar and calligrapher, wrote and inscribed it on a column.
