An Chung-Sik (1861~1919)
Painter of the late Lee Dynasty of Korea. Died on October 26, 1919. He was known as "Bu Bu Ong" in his later years. When he was young, he studied in Tianjin, China at official expense. Later, he worked hard to cultivate young talents in the Calligraphy and Painting Art Association (founded in 1911), the earliest art research group in modern Korea. In 1919, he founded the Painting and Calligraphy Association and served as its president. He is good at landscapes, figures, flowers and birds, especially landscapes, and is also good at calligraphy. His representative works include "A Visit to Peach Blossoms" (1913) and "Spring Dawn in the White Mountains" (1915).
