Places of interest in Nanjiang Town

Nanjiang Town has a long history and many places of interest, especially the Fourth Front Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, which has many ruins left in the town.

Yangbatai Neolithic Cultural Site. There is Yangbatai in Baihe Village, 5 miles east of the county seat. In the winter of 1977, when two ponds 70 meters apart were excavated here, a batch of stone tools and pottery were unearthed. Among them, there are 36 stone tools, including axes, spears, hoes, punches, scrapers, spherical and ring ornaments, etc. The pottery sherds include: sand-inlaid gray pottery with thick and thin cord patterns, sand-inlaid red pottery with parallel stripes or scratches, and fine clay red pottery without lines. After identification, it was initially determined to be a human relic from the Neolithic Age, dating back 5,000-9,000 years ago. The site has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit.

Red four doors. The original name was "Yinghui Gate". It was renamed to commemorate the Fourth Red Front Army's entry into the city from this gate to liberate Nanjiang on February 1, 1933. It is located between the County East Street and Shanghe Street. It is the east gate of the ancient city. It is a city gate built with green strips of stone. The arch is 3.83 meters high, the wall is 5 meters high, the door is 3.64 meters wide and 9.4 meters deep. In 1981, it was listed as a prefecture-level cultural relic protection unit.

Heaven opens the core list. At the south gate of the county bridge, there is a mountain wall on the south bank of Jishui. There is a huge rectangular stone wall at the top. The overhanging rock is very dangerous. In the 10th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1830), the county magistrate Zhang went to run the four characters "Tiankai Ruibang" and engraved it. On the stone wall. The characters are 2.3 meters high and can be clearly seen from miles away. The writing is powerful and the structure is rigorous, which is highly praised by calligraphers.

Shaxiba Song Tomb. There are several hills of Song Dynasty tombs at the head of Shaxi Dam, 2 kilometers east of the county. It is said that one of them is the Zhenzhen Tomb of Le Zhizhi, a direct descendant of Yue Fei, a Song Dynasty man (he changed his surname to Le because he avoided the cypress disaster). The second one is a student of the Song Dynasty. The tomb of Zhenzi Le Dingsen has complete inscriptions. It is now listed as a cultural relic protection unit.

Prince Cave. There is a calamus cave about one kilometer away in the east gate ditch of the county. There are many calamus trees, gurgling water and pleasant scenery. It has been a popular place for tourists of all ages. There are stone carvings on the stone wall in the cave. The identifiable year names are: Taihe and Dingwei of the Tang Dynasty, Jia year of Shaoxing in the Song Dynasty, Jiachen of Chunxi, Renshen of Jiading, Jiawu and Tianqi of the Ming and Jiaqing Dynasties, Guangxu and Ding Wei of the Qing Dynasty, etc. It is said that Li Xian, Prince Zhanghuai of the Tang Dynasty, once visited here (according to Tang history, he may be related to the deceased Emperor Li Chongmao). According to the "Old Tang Book" and "Zizhi Tongjian": Prince Chongmao ascended the throne in June of the fourth year of Jinglong. Not long after he was located. His uncle was King Xiang. In the second year of Jingyun's reign, he was granted the title of King Xiang and moved to Jizhou three years later. The second one is a student of the Song Dynasty. The tomb of Zhenzi Le Dingsen has complete inscriptions. It is now listed as a cultural relic protection unit.

Broken channel. There is a broken canal 2 kilometers east of the city. It is a fission landform caused by the imbalance of centripetal and centrifugal forces during the orogeny of the Mesozoic Jurassic period 150 million years ago. The canals and valleys are crisscrossed with strange rocks. Anthropomorphic object, like a bird or an animal. Incredible craftsmanship, in various forms. Experts from the Institute of Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences believe that the femur fossils of primitive people in the canal are: "Daba Mountain is the junction of the two major river basins of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. The fossils of the broken canal have important scientific research value for the development of human beings in China." Relics such as stone hoes, stone axes, and stone sharpening fields have recently been discovered in the canal, proving that there were human activities in ancient times. There are more than ten large and small forts in the canal. A large number of "cut-edge five-baht coins of the Eastern Han Dynasty" and weapons were unearthed, proving that more than 1,700 years ago, someone took advantage of the concealment and danger of the broken canal terrain to build forts to prevent military disasters. Banditry. The broken canal also has a large stone canopy covered like an arch hall. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, the White Lotus Sect invaded Nanjiang City and burned down the county government office. The county magistrate Qiu Minjun used the grotto as a place to hear cases, so the place is known as the "big government office". The broken canal is surrounded by water on three sides, with adjacent caves and vines. It has always been one of the scenic spots in Nanjiang. In the Qing Dynasty, there was the "Longquan Villa", a carved building with a dragon head carved on the mountain and rock in the back garden, which led the water from the mountain spring to flow from the dragon's mouth. In the lotus pond, during the Republic of China, the garden had fragrant golden fruits, beautiful bonsai, and unique styles. The above two generations of buildings were destroyed by historical changes, and the geological landscape of the broken canal is rare in the world. The ancient ruins are a treasure. The forest is vast and quiet. Mountains, water, forests, rocks, canals, and caves form a unique natural landscape that can be visited by thousands of people.

In 1995, the county committee decided to develop the broken canal and invest in it. After three years of construction with a cost of one million yuan, the garden has begun to take shape, with stone paths, four crisscrossing canals, various pavilions and corridors, and flying pavilions and flowing flowers.

The eight major landscapes of the canal are magnificent in scale and beautiful: the majestic scenery of the South Gate shows the majestic spirit of a generation of Bashan people; the Shihai Cave Township left behind the miracles of life of the ancient Cubans; The moon is waiting for you to drink wine and sing to the moon; the tranquility of Hongmeng reveals the human feelings of the long years; the flowing rhyme of pines and waves allows you to listen to the voice of nature; rafting with glass allows you to roam the sky and purify your spirituality: Longhua Buddha's light and auspicious clouds are misty, The vegetation is shining, and the worries of the world are gone. It is an ideal place to worship the Buddha in the mountains. Duanqu is not only an ancient site in the town, but also a tourist attraction for tourists.
