Zheng Banqiao, who paints bamboo, wrote an article "Painting Bamboo".

The translation is as follows:

Three huts, ten miles of spring breeze, overlooking the secluded bamboo on the mountain from the window, what an elegant thing. It's a pity that people who can enjoy it so much don't know it themselves. And those who are ignorant and have no ink on their chests are in such a situation and don't know where to be happy.

Only when hard-working people suddenly have more than ten days of leisure time will they close the Chai Men, sweep the path, meet the fragrant orchids, taste bitter tea, and sometimes the breeze and drizzle moisten the fence path. There is nothing annoying, and I am sighing at such a rare leisure time in the face of my intimate friends. So I paint orchids, bamboos and stones to comfort those who work hard, not those who crave enjoyment.

Original text:

Three huts, ten miles of spring breeze, orchid in the window, bamboo outside the window. What an elegant and enjoyable person this is. Ignorance, no ink, never know where you are happy. However, people who have worked hard and suffered from poverty and illness suddenly have ten days and five days of leisure. It is also a rare day to turn off firewood and fly, sweep the bamboo path, sip bitter tea on vanilla, and sometimes have a gentle breeze and drizzle, nourishing the hedge path. It is also a rare day for ordinary guests to come and good friends to come. Whenever I paint blue, bamboo and stone, it is used to comfort the working people all over the world, not to enjoy them.

Introduction to the work:

Zhu Hua

It is said that painting bamboo is better than seeing sunshine and moon shadow on the paper window powder wall. I once wrote: "My bamboo is refined and elegant, with lines in calligraphy, lines in bamboo, shades in calligraphy, shades in bamboo, density in calligraphy and density in bamboo." He is good at writing bamboo, and even wrote the poem "Between Bamboo and Stone", expressing his aloof feelings with the "between nothing and many knots" of bamboo.

Good at drawing blue bamboo stones

He is handsome in appearance and pungent in style, claiming to be "a orchid that never gives thanks at four seasons, a bamboo that never stops at a hundred knots, a stone that never falls down, and a person who will never change." Jiang Shiquan's Poems on Painting Orchids said: "Banqiao is painted like a orchid, elegant and graceful, Banqiao is written like a orchid, and beautiful leaves are numerous and graceful." In this passage, the relationship between "book" and "painting" in his works is really incisive.
