They are all from Guanlong military aristocrats. Yang Guang is also Li Shimin's cousin. Later, Li Shimin married Yang Guang's daughter. Yang guang should also be regarded as Li Shimin's half husband.
The fathers of the two men were the first ministers and the second masters (Yang Guang's father, Emperor Wendi, originally worked for the Emperor of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, and later usurped the throne to stand on his own feet; Li Shimin's father, tang gaozu, originally stayed in taiyuan during the sui dynasty, but later took advantage of the chaos to rise up and win the world.
2 meritorious service in his early years
Yang Guang: In 588, Yang Guang, who was less than 20 years old, commanded Sui Jun to destroy the Chen Dynasty on the south bank of the Yangtze River and unified China. In 590, he put down the Jiangnan rebellion with high wisdom; In 600, he led the army to break the Turks in the north.
Li Shimin: In 6 17, he set out with Li Yuan to conquer Chang 'an; After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, he led the army to wipe out the separatist forces such as Xue Ju, Liu Wuzhou, Wang, Dou Jiande and Lu, and made outstanding contributions to the unification of China in the Tang Dynasty.

Both of them gained the throne through improper means. Yang Guang won the favor of his parents by playing dumb. With his outstanding talent, he finally let his father abolish his younger brother and make him a prince. Later, when he acceded to the throne, there were rumors of killing his brother, but there was no such thing in official history.
According to official records, Li Shimin killed his brother and forced his father in the bloody coup in Xuanwu Gate. Although it was modified at his own behest, it can still be seen that the royal father and son killed each other for power, regardless of flesh and blood.

Yang Guang: It perfected the pioneering work of Wen Di in selecting officials according to disciplines, and formally established the imperial examination system, which gave the intellectuals of the Han nationality the opportunity to participate in national politics, broke the situation that the official career was monopolized by gentry, and had a far-reaching impact on China in later generations. Li Shimin: Improve the imperial examination system, vigorously set up schools, attach importance to educational activities, popularize the selection and appointment of officials, reuse talents, and drop talents without sticking to one pattern. The use and leadership of talents have reached a high level.
Personal Talent These two guys are both sages in SHEN WOO. They have both literary talent and martial arts, and they are both high-spirited. They can write poetry and prose, and their level is not bad: Brother Guang's "Drinking Horses in the Great Wall Cave" has become a masterpiece through the ages.
