What is the history and culture of Cui Wen Pavilion?

Cuiwenge is located in Wenhua East Street, Liulichang, Beijing. Mainly engaged in Four Treasures of the Study and seals for customers. It was founded by Wei Changqing, a famous calligraphy seal engraver, in the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929).

Wei Changqing was an apprentice in Liulichang when he was a teenager. Because he is studious, well-read and rote learning, he has formed his own unique calligraphy style. His seal script and official script are excellent, especially his facial style.

Cuiwenge also sells banners and couplets written by Wei Changqing himself, which attracts many customers because of its profound foundation and exquisite mounting.

His epigraphy is based on Wu Changshuo's example, and his seal cutting, swordsmanship and glyph are all very charming.

Cuiwenge also produces and distributes homemade high-quality inkpad. Ink is printed in color. The ink made by Cuiwenge is carefully processed with cinnabar, moxa, pearl, agate, castor oil and other raw materials.

Cuiwenge has strict requirements on the selection of materials, such as castor oil, which must be aged for many years to ensure that the processed inkpad has bright color, no oil leakage when covered on paper, and its color is long-lasting and moist.

Wei Changqing and his disciple Xu Baitao once participated in the construction of the Monument to the People's Heroes. It took the mentoring half a month to carve the inscription of Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou.

After Wei Changqing's death, his disciple Li Wenxin succeeded Cui Wenge as the manager. With the reconstruction and expansion of Liulichang Cultural Street, many Chinese and foreign tourists come to visit, and the ancient pavilions in Beijing can be inherited and carried forward.
