In September 1979, Shanghai "Calligraphy" magazine held a "National Mass Calligraphy Competition", and Wang Cheng, an author from Henan Province, won the first prize. This was the first large-scale calligraphy competition held nationwide after the "Gang of Four" was crushed. moving activities.

In August 1989, awards were set up for the first time at the "Fourth National Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Exhibition". Wang Baobao from Henan won the first prize, Li Gangtian, Liu Shun, Zhao Zhenqian and Li Jianye won the second prize, and Wu Xing, Shang Renyi, Liu Sentang and Gao Chongming won the third prize.

In 1990, the Third National Young and Middle-aged Calligraphers Exhibition sponsored by the Chinese Calligraphers Association won three winners from Henan: Zha Zhonglin, Zhang Fujun, and Xi Lisheng.

In June 1992, the "Fifth National Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Exhibition" was changed to a category where the awards were collectively referred to as the National Award regardless of grade. Eight winners from Henan were: Zhang Hai, Zha Zhonglin, Yunping, Xu Xiongzhi, Luan Xiaobao, Su Maozhi, Zhang Ji, Jiao Zhiqin.

In August 1992, the first Henan Province Literary and Art Outstanding Achievements Award was awarded. Among them, the calligraphy winners were: Li Gangtian's "Seal Engraving Works Collection", Zhou Junjie's "Calligraphy Works Collection", and Wang Guobao's "Official Script Couplet" . In 1999, at the Seventh National Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Exhibition, 9 winners from Henan were: Zhang Fuhua, Liu Shaodian, Liu Baoguang, Mi Nao, Wang Zhongyong, Wang Yuhong, Zhang Jingqiang, Zhang Cunmin, and Ge Yuan.

In November 2000, the Chinese Calligraphers Association selected the first Artists with Virtue and Art, four from our province: Mi Nao, Zhang Wenping, Zong Zhiyuan, and Zhang Heling.

In 2000, at the 8th National Young and Middle-aged Calligraphers Exhibition, three people from Henan won the third prize: Wang Zhongyong, Jia Changcheng, and Yang Dongri.

In 2002, the Chinese Calligraphers Association selected the second batch of artists with both virtue and art, including four from our province: Liu Zhaoying, Liu Yantao, Li Jianye and Hu Qiuping.
