What kind of person was Zhuge Liang in history?

Military talents.

Zhuge Liang came from a wealthy family, and his ancestors once held the high-level military position of Sili Xiaowei. This has influenced Zhuge Liang since he was a child, and he has learned a lot from his family's cultural heritage. Before Zhuge Liang came out of the mountain, he praised himself as Guan Zhong Leyi. These two men were famous civil servants and generals during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, which shows Zhuge Liang's confidence in his versatility in both civil and military affairs.

However, in the first half of Zhuge Liang's life, he always played the role of a civil servant. After Liu Bei got Zhuge Liang, he asked him to take on Xiao He's responsibilities, govern the place, and provide enough food and troops. Even Liu Ye, a counselor from his rival camp, commented that Zhuge Liang "knows how to govern a country and becomes prime minister." It was only because of the need of the situation that Zhuge Liang went to the battlefield to lead his troops.

After Zhang Fei was killed, Zhuge Liang succeeded him as Sili Colonel and began to take charge of the military. After Liu Bei entrusted an orphan in Baidi City, Zhuge Liang began to conquer Cao Wei in the north and support the Han Dynasty as his own mission, leading the army to conquer the north and south. During Zhuge Liang's first Northern Expedition, Cao Wei thought that Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei had all passed away, and that the Shu army had no ability to fight. Who knows, they met Zhuge Liang, a powerful opponent.
