The calligraphy competition between teachers and students in Shenyang primary and secondary schools was held in No.1 Middle School in Hunnan District. This contest collected more than 600 calligraphy works of primary and secondary school teachers and students in the city. After expert review, nearly 200 calligraphy works were shortlisted for the municipal finals. After that, calligraphers in provinces and cities evaluated these works with gold, silver and finalist awards in primary school group, junior high school group and teachers group.
The Ministry of Education issued the Opinions on Developing Calligraphy Education in Primary and Secondary Schools, which clarified the significance and purpose of calligraphy education. Shenyang Education Bureau has actively implemented the national work arrangements, established a school featuring calligraphy art activities, trained about 320 full-time and part-time calligraphy teachers, and equipped compulsory education schools with special classrooms and facilities for calligraphy in a planned and step-by-step manner. After all the primary school calligraphy classrooms were fully equipped and put into use last year, this year's junior high school calligraphy classroom has entered the stage of bidding for tables and chairs. By the end of this year, 376 calligraphy classrooms in all primary schools and 205 calligraphy classrooms in junior high schools in the city will be equipped and put into use.
