Overview of Running Script Running script was formed around the Han Dynasty. Zhang Huaiguan in the Tang Dynasty said in "The Story": "The case owner was also created by Liu Desheng in Yingchuan, the later Han Dynasty, that is, a small mistake in the book. Things are simple and popular, so they are called running scripts. " Here, Zhang Huaicui thinks that the running script was written by Liu Desheng at the end of Han Dynasty, which is different from the official book. The official script before the Tang Dynasty mainly refers to seal script and official script, which evolved on the basis of official script and is an "outstanding official script". In the Song Dynasty, the Preface to Xuanhe Book Spectrum also wrote: "A little restraint and a little grass release are somewhere in between. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was Liu Desheng in Yingchuan, which was true. " In other words, the original (regular script) is too formal, too restrained, and the cursive script is too indulgent, so it is difficult for people to master and identify it. Running script is a kind of calligraphy between original and cursive. Xuanhe Pu Shu also believes that the running script was created by Liu Desheng. From the present point of view, it is obviously unreliable to attribute the generation of a book style to one person, but there should be no problem that Liu Desheng is the representative author of the running script in the late Han Dynasty. Unfortunately, Liu Desheng has no traces of his calligraphy, so there is no way to check his calligraphy style. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the development of China's calligraphy history was dominated by the popularity of running script. Especially in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi made great contributions to the development of running script. Wang Xizhi developed the running script to an unprecedented maturity. To this day, people still regard his running script as the highest French style. Since the Tang Dynasty, he has been honored as a "book saint". Wang Xizhi's Preface to the Lanting Pavilion and Wang Xizhi's Preface to the Holy Teaching in the Tang Dynasty have always been the best models for people to study and study running scripts.
