The painting method of plum blossoms in traditional Chinese painting is as follows:
1. Use a medium-sized woolen brush, add vermilion or cinnabar, dip the tip of the pen in eosin, and draw with a side edge to point out the petals. The flower shape should not be too bright. To be complete, there must be size and difference between the whole and the missing parts. The main flowers are slightly darker in color, and some light colors in dense areas can increase the sense of hierarchy.
2. Use a small langhao or jianhao brush, adjust the ink lightly, and draw a small circular circle, usually with five petals. Because of the front and side cover, you can also draw four or three petals. After the circle is completed, dot the stamens, use a small wolf hair brush dipped in thick ink to dot the stamen silk, radially from the center to the surroundings, and then point out the stamens.
3. Use a medium-sized hair brush, add vermilion or cinnabar, dip the tip of the pen in eosin, and draw the petals sideways to point out the petals. The flower shape should not be too complete, but should be differentiated by size and shape. The main flowers are slightly darker in color. Dotting some light-colored flowers in dense areas can increase the sense of hierarchy.
4. The main trunk of plum blossom refers to the old trunk and thick trunk part. The old stems of ancient plum blossoms are covered with dancing dragons and phoenixes, and the moss is spreading over them. Some tree stumps are lumpy and their branches and stems are sparse. Therefore, when painting Laogan, you should use double hooks and slanted strokes. The ink color should be light, dry, and thirsty, and draw a whitish feeling. Then use light ink to dye it, and finally use thick ink to dot the moss, using thick to break up the light and dry. Wet and alternate.
5. When using the hooking method to draw prunes, you should start from the dark side and use a No. 2 bucket pen such as hard stone badger or rat tail to hook and chamfer at the same time; there should be less moisture on the pen. The gray ink is dipped in dark ink and drawn in sections. It is advisable to use the side edge to move the brush in a retrograde direction to express the hairy and astringent texture at the edge of the old stem.
