There is a saying called "there is no fixed method in writing". Is there a correct posture to learn calligraphy?

In the field of calligraphy, there is a saying that there is no definite writing method. Learning calligraphy actually requires correct posture, but this posture requirement only exists in the early period of learning calligraphy, which means that these posture requirements are actually only for laying the foundation in the early period. Finally, because of everyone's style and characteristics of the times, everyone's posture is different.

In the early stage of learning calligraphy, the most commonly used method is the five-finger pen-lifting method, which is also the most suitable method for beginners to learn through historical development. But besides this method, you can actually write it in other ways. This method only needs beginners to learn to write, and can be used as long as it is correct. In the five-finger writing method, the order of fingers should be thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger and tail finger.

Among them, the requirement of writing is to flatten the wrist first, and the purpose of doing so is to correct. Followed by palm deficiency, the purpose is to make fingers flexible. The last requirement refers to reality and aims at balancing power. But this does not mean strength, but a method of exerting strength. And according to different dynasties, the writing is also different. For example, in the Han dynasty, the thumb was connected to the pen holder, and then the pen was held with the other four fingers. The method of holding the pen in Jin Dynasty is two-finger single hook method, which mainly uses the thumb and forefinger to hold the pen, and the other fingers do not touch the pen holder.

The pen-lifting method in the Tang Dynasty is a single hook method, which is actually similar to the pen-lifting method in the Jin Dynasty, except that the pen is mainly held between the thumb and the index finger, but the middle finger and the ring finger are different. The writing method in Song Dynasty is three fingers and two hooks. In the process of writing, thumb, forefinger and middle finger are used together, three fingers are used together, and the other two fingers do not touch the pen. Therefore, the method of writing is constantly developing in the face of the changes of the times.
