Liu Hui (1851-1926), courtesy name Yuan Bin, alias Chungu, was born in Chang'an, Shaanxi. Good at calligraphy, painting and seal cutting. In the late Qing Dynasty, he served as the governor of Yongning County, Sichuan. After the Revolution of 1911, he served as the president of Chang'an Commerce. He once gave lectures at "Shaoxu Academy". He is capable of all styles of calligraphy, especially seal script and running script. He is good at seal cutting and can print tens of thousands of square meters. In the late Qing Dynasty, the painting was selected into the "National Celebrity Painting Exhibition" held at the Shanghai Nanyang Expo. His works include "A Examination of Wadang in Qin and Han Dynasties", "An Examination of Nestorianism's Entry into China", "Shigu Fu", etc. Published are "Selected Calligraphy and Paintings of Liu Hui" and "Print and Preservation of Taifang Hall" (Liu Hui's Seal Engraving).
