In the 2019 art examination, Communication University of China took the lead as a pilot unit of the Ministry of Education to set up a "basic cultural literacy test" in the art admissions examination, which is the preliminary test.
In fact, in the art exams in previous years, Communication University has always set up a comprehensive cultural test including Chinese, mathematics and English for some majors that focus on cultural literacy. This is called an alternative in the national art exams, and even Some examiners and parents jokingly called Zhongchuan the "Qingbei" of art exams.
In 2019, this "additional test" was developed into a required test for all art majors in the school, and became the only content of the initial test. It also provides a choice of "Language, Mathematics, English" or "Literature, History and Philosophy". This makes those who once believed that "people who are not well-educated must learn art" are speechless.
The 2019 Communication University Art Examination registration did not decline because of this, but reached a record high of nearly 50,000 people (the enrollment plan is nearly 800 people).
On this basis, the 2020 Art Examination has undergone new reforms. It has changed from the original two-choice test to only testing "Literature, History and Philosophy" - the first test will test Literature, History and Philosophy.
While the Ministry of Education has largely canceled school entrance examinations for art admissions (except for independent colleges and a few comprehensive universities), the requirements for college entrance examination scores are also getting higher and higher. At a school like Zhongchuan, many popular art majors have higher college entrance examination score requirements than those for general first-tier schools.
Indeed, in the past, there were some people who valued literature over art, or even abandoned literature for art. But in fact, no matter from the social level or the individual level, literature and art have never been two different families. It ranges from social and government institutions such as the Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Ministry of Culture to the Cultural Center, and it ranges from in-depth interpretation or interpretation of artistic works. Even in the examination room, you will be asked questions related to "literary" such as the historical or cultural background of the work, the expression of ideas, etc.
It is true that you can say that there are many folk artists whose "cultural" level is not high, but don't they also have high artistic attainments? But don’t you think that dictating a national epic and singing a folk tune need to be immersed in the profound national and folk culture?
We know that artificial intelligence is also rapidly entering the field of art. Machine composition, computer painting, virtual voice actors...skilled jobs are all likely to be replaced by machines. By then, the only thing humans may hold on to is their spiritual home. What we can do is to make it impossible for robots to surpass us in terms of humanistic qualities; to make it difficult for robots to reach the depth of the soul of artistic works and expressions.
