Li Si was a famous politician, writer and calligrapher in Qin Dynasty. When he was young, he first worked as a small official in the countryside to manage documents. Later, he studied with Xun Qing and became a Tingwei. During the reign of Qin Shihuang, Li Si was appointed Prime Minister with outstanding political vision and outstanding talent.
before the unification of Qin dynasty, due to the long-term separatist regime of the vassal States, the situation of different languages and different characters was formed. Qin Shihuang always hoped that there would be a standard font to replace the previously popular variant characters, so he found out that Lisi was good at calligraphy and gave him this task. Li Si simplified the big seal script and sorted out a set of characters with simple strokes and neat shape, which was called Qin Zhuan. After Qin Shihuang read these new books, he was very satisfied, so he set them as standard fonts and ordered them to be used all over the country.
At that time, people were not familiar with the structure of Xiao Zhuan, and it was difficult to write satisfactorily. Li Si and Zhao Gao, Hu Wu and others wrote models such as Cang Xie, Ji Li and Bo Xue for everyone to copy.
One year before Qin Shihuang died, he braved the Qianjiang River and went to Huiji (now Shaoxing) in the east, sacrificed to the Tomb of Dayu and climbed Tianzhu Peak (later called Qin Wangshan). After overlooking the tidal bore in the East China Sea, he ordered Prime Minister Li Si to write the inscription of Huiji in calligraphy. The next day after Reese was ordered to finish writing overnight, he picked a stone carving on the ridge and then stood at the top of Ebi Mountain in Huiji (later called carved stone mountain). This is the famous carved stone in Huiji in history.
Stone carvings that are said to have been written by Li Si include Mount Tai, Langya, Yi Mountain and Huiji.
