In the eighteenth year of Daoguang (1838), after Zeng Guofan became an official, he got the post of president of Hengyang Lianhuahu Academy and bought a house on the east bank. During the Xianfeng period, Zeng Guofan practiced Xiang army in Hengyang, and often rested at home, read books, talked about classics and talked about Taoism. 1869 died, and was named General Jianwei, named Dr. Guanglu, aged Gong Sheng, and was a candidate for discipline.
In 2007, Hengyang Municipal People's Government specially built "Ouyang's Former Residence" on Xiangjiang East Road in the urban area.

Zeng Guofan was a politician, strategist, philosopher, writer, calligrapher, founder and commander-in-chief of Xiang Army in China in the late Qing Dynasty. Born in an ordinary peasant family, he was diligent and studious since childhood and entered school at the age of 6. At the age of 8, he can read four books and recite five classics. At the age of 14, he can read Zhou Li and Historical Records.
In the 18th year of Daoguang (1838), he entered imperial academy and studied under the military minister Zhang Mu. Reluctantly moved to a bachelor's degree in cabinet, assistant minister of does, assistant minister of military, industrial, criminal and official departments. He once conquered the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and was called "the four famous ministers of ZTE in the late Qing Dynasty" with Li Hongzhang, Zuo and Zhang Zhidong.
