Li (born in the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, the year of his death is unknown; Another word is 72 1 or 722 ~ 785 or 787), from Zhao Jun (now Zhao County, Hebei Province). Some people say that he is Li Bai's uncle and Li Chao is Du Fu's nephew. Uncle, especially fond of seal script, studied under Lisi, lived in seclusion in Jinyun, and studied seal script for 10 years. Claiming to be "committed to ancient seals, it took almost 30 years ... to achieve the purpose of" printing ",and he became famous all over the world. Li was quite confident, so he boasted: "Needless to say, this matter passed through Xi 'an, until it reached Cao and Cai Yong.".
Li's seal script was very famous at that time, and he was also called "Li Er" with Li Si. Zhu, a poet in the Song Dynasty, juxtaposed him with Zhang Xu and Yan Zhenqing. Li befriended Yan Zhenqing and was often inscribed with seal script by Yan Zhenqing. Most of the monuments in Yan Shu were sealed by Li.
The artistic achievement of Li Zhuanshu lies in the revival of Zhuanshu in the Tang Dynasty. He inherited the brushwork of Li Si's seal script and created the style of "big, energetic and meritorious". He is an outstanding representative of seal script in Tang dynasty, which made the art of seal script reach another peak after Han dynasty. His masterpieces handed down from generation to generation, such as Three Graves and Prajna Inscription, etc. Most of them were re-carved by Song people, and the aesthetic feeling of his stippling can't be completely preserved, but we can still see his gentle, harmonious and structured creative efforts.
Many of Li's works are ghostwritten by clients. The representative works are:
The original stone of the "Three Graves" was lost, re-carved by Song people, and then washed. Compared with the seal script of Qin and Han Dynasties, the number of round strokes increased obviously, and the traditional structure of dense on the top and sparse on the bottom was changed to stop evenly up and down, which made the Chinese characters more and more heroic, but the lofty and simple atmosphere was far less than that of Qin Zhuan. His other works include The Story of the Town God Temple in Jinyun County, The Story of the First Life, Prajna Map, The Cover of Cui's Epitaph and Gao Lishi Monument.
Li Zeng wrote 30 volumes of Shuo Wen Jie Zi, although it has not been circulated, but it has many disadvantages of usurpation, which has been criticized by future generations. Writing seal script must be proficient in storytelling, which has become a compulsory course for seal script writers. Although Li is confident, his shortcomings in knowledge cannot be said to be his misfortune.
