Reflections on Feng Tang's method of getting things done: making good use of one's talents.

By chance, I exchanged with Mr. Qin Jie the proposal of "going north to resist Japan" put forward by Chairman Mao at Zunyi meeting. Mr. Qin Jie gave me a book "The Psychological Method of Feng Tang's Success", and the part I read today is "Make Good Use of Your Talents".

The article starts with "recognizing talent" and knows what talent you have. How to make good use of your talents? What if there is a shortage of talents? Then, it is also discussed from three aspects.

1. What if there is no talent in what I want to do?

I will do it when I encounter difficulties, and I will arrange more time to do it, that is, stick to it.

Teacher Feng Tang first presented Zeng Guofan's famous words as evidence. Zeng Guofan called this persistence "Chang", which means the same thing, that is, you can live without talent; Then I gave an example of Zeng Guofan practicing calligraphy.

Zeng Guofan believes that writing good words is something he must do well. Because since the Tang Dynasty, there have been four ways of selecting people, namely "body, speech, writing and judgment".

Body: physical appearance; Text: correct text; Book: the beauty of law; Judgment: excellent in arts and sciences;

Zeng Guofan himself thinks that the other three items are acceptable, and calligraphy is incompetent. Therefore, he writes every day and accumulates over time, so he writes well.

Then, I gave an example of self-learning financial knowledge.

Feng Tang has a low talent in finance, but he took six financial courses during his two-year MBA study and worked hard to overcome it. Although I suffered a lot in the short term, I made up for the lack of basic skills of wealth and achieved my goal.

Second, can "regularity" replace talent? The answer is no.

Be awed by talents and don't sell yourself short. Don't think that I can achieve great things by persisting, which may be an excessive depreciation of the role of talents. Talent is the ability that God gave you when you were born. At this point, talent is really more important than hard work.

Respecting one's own talents, developing one's own talents, not denying others' talents, and making good use of oneself and others' talents are "talents" in themselves.

Third, how to judge whether you have talent?

1. If everyone is against you doing something, it's no use stopping you. You also do it secretly, which shows that you are very talented in this matter.

You have a sense of pleasure and satisfaction in doing this, which indirectly proves that you have talent.

3. Is there anyone willing to pay for what you have made? If there is, it means "this thing".

From what has been discussed above, I think we can awaken our undiscovered "talent" through correct "persistence".

Teacher Feng Tang gave an example of Zeng Guofan practicing calligraphy, and I feel the same way. Of course, I'm not practicing calligraphy for my career. Because, with a "cerebral infarction", the right hand loses all its functions, let alone writing. After a little better, I decided to practice writing again in order to overcome my illness and restore the function of my right hand and right arm. The goal I set for myself is to at least reach and exceed the pre-illness level. I thought, "Since God wants me to start over, I can only repay God's love by doing better than in the past.".

Five years later, the writing level not only exceeded the pre-illness level, but also Wang Xizhi's Preface to Lanting Collection, which was not ugly to decorate his humble room.

This is the power of persistence. In the words of teacher Feng Tang, it is "just do it!" Zeng Guofan is called "Youchang".

The direction is right. In the quadrant of time, try your best. As long as you have the seeds of hope, although the flowering period of each kind is different, it will definitely bloom when the time comes!

To be continued, the next article: Feng Tang's Psychological Method of Success has a feeling that there is no shortcut to great things.
