Shen Quan's Historical Records
Shen Quan and Dong Qichang are fellow villagers, and they admired Shu Dong since childhood, and took this as the basis of calligraphy study, which won Shu Dong's brushwork characteristics and charm. Emperor Kangxi loved Dong Qichang's calligraphy, and once studied calligraphy from him, or he specialized in Shu Dong, which influenced Emperor Kangxi's preference for Shu Dong. According to records, when Emperor Kangxi learned calligraphy from him, he always "pointed out its disadvantages and analyzed its reasons". The studious emperor was deeply impressed and rewarded a lot. Kangxi once said to Li Guangdi, "I am a beginner, and (Shen's) father Quan Shishi has pointed out Chen's gains and losses many times. So far, every time I write a book, I have never missed all the diligence. " Moreover, "all inscriptions on imperial monuments, temple barriers and thrones must be made public." Or make a big book, the proposition will follow. " So Shu Dong prevailed between the ruling and opposition parties and became a fashion. At the same time, Shen Quan appeared with Jiang, Wang, He Chao and Chen Bangyan, also known as the "Four Masters of Kangxi". They all thought the main characters, but also absorbed the calligraphy of Jin and Tang Dynasties or Song and Mi Fei.
