This house was given by Emperor Liu Wanghai when he abdicated in his later years, and he was given a set of "four-horse trailer" mansion in his hometown, which shows that he is a noble and powerful man.
"Four-horse trailer", that is, four rows of buildings side by side, sit on Wenbi Mountain, ten miles northwest and southeast. Each column consists of three rows and five bays. On the building floor, the last drop is 1 m higher than the previous one, that is, the total difference between front and back is two meters. Spacing between four-poster buildings1.2m is used as the roadway. There are ear doors around each building to facilitate mutual visits. Four rows of buildings, 20 meters wide from north to south and 34.5 meters long from east to west, with a construction area of 690 square meters. The stone embankment in front of the door is 94.9 meters long, and the walls are painted with ash, which has the functions of absorbing moisture, adjusting cold and heat and preventing earthquake collapse. A gallery stone in front of the eaves is 5.9 meters long, 0.6 meters wide, 0. 18 meters thick and weighs 1720 kg. It is 6.3 meters wide and covers an area of 597.8 meters, with a total area of more than 3,000 square meters.
The form of each block is hall (lower room 4), wellhead (upper room 2), hall (large room, five rooms 4) and back room 4. The hall area is 4 1.5 square meters. The column (40 cm in diameter) is planted in Dafu Mountain, with a positive ridge of more than six meters, which is a beam-lifting structure. The indoor roof of reed pole is difficult to reach the top of the mountain, and the dovetail is upturned; Gables are made of small stones inlaid into a small hair stone circle, commonly known as "Guanyin holding a baby", which has a unique and solid shape and is the characteristic of retaining masonry in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The walls and dado on both sides of the gate are made of large slabs with horizontal stripes, and the upper surface is made of red bricks, which is simple and beautiful. It is said that the construction of the "four-horse trailer" is huge and takes more than ten years to complete. In order to ensure the specifications and quality of red materials, we also build our own ceramic kiln to fire bricks and other components.
Things have changed, 400 years have passed, and most of the four ancient buildings have been damaged so far. One collapsed due to fire, two collapsed due to disrepair, and there are still residual walls; Only the first two blocks in the north are old, but their old appearance is relatively complete and the original materials are solid and considerable; Two buildings in the second row in the south were rebuilt by his grandson in the second room. And rebuild the back seat hall into Liu Wanghai Memorial Hall. A stone statue of Liu Wanghai sitting in colorful official clothes is enshrined in the niche, with a solemn and profound expression; Xiaoshenglian: "The Yan School in Henan has a long history." Couplet: "Building dikes gives Fujian and Zhejiang peace of mind, eliminates disadvantages, worships the Han government and helps Guangdong and Yunnan". Ray, a famous minister and calligrapher in Ming Dynasty, hung the word "Ancient Night" on the lintel of the hall, which is very precious.
The entrance and exit passage behind the south side of the former residence (in front of the street) is built with a tiled hanging eaves gatehouse; There are gold-plated banners on the lintel with the words "Liu Huili in the year of Wanli Renyin" and "The General Constitution is imperial"; There are a pair of stone lions by the door, and the weather is classical. There are three ancient wells and endless springs.
Today, "Xuma Trailer" has become a beautiful landscape of ancient dwellings in Hui 'an County.
