Located in Hejin City, southwest of Shanxi Province, Shanxi Province, there is Chaijia Village, located in the southeast corner of Hejin City. There is a Xianniu Village in Chai's hometown, and there is a place in Xianniu Village called Shuangcipo. In August 2019, because the Shuangcipo Calligraphy and Painting Club was established in Xianniu Village, several comrades from our city’s Old Calligraphy Association came to Xianniu Village by chance and learned many stories and legends about Xianniu Village.
Xianiu Village is located on the southeast slope of the south bank of Fenhe River. There is also a village on the slope called Shangniu Village. Before the 1970s, it was under the jurisdiction of Hejin City. Later, due to changes in administrative divisions, Shangniu Village was placed under the jurisdiction of Wanrong County.
Regarding the origins of Shangniu Village and Xianiu Village, there is indeed some origin. It is understood that this is the origin of the name of Xianniu Village. Legend has it that as early as the Eastern Han Dynasty, Wang Mang chased Liu Xiu, and Liu Xiu ran to Shangniu Village from the Shuangci Slope of Xianiu Village. When going uphill, the jujube thorns on both sides of the road caught Liu Xiu's shirt and he couldn't pull it away. At this time, Wang Mang's pursuers were chasing after him. Liu Xiu hurriedly ran forward, but was caught by the double thorns of the thorn slope and could not move forward. Liu Xiu blurted out in desperation: "What a good thorn hook!" If you don't give it to me, you will all be straight!" Liu Xiu is worthy of his destiny. As soon as he said this, all the thorn hooks on the cliffs on both sides of the double thorn slope straightened obediently, and Liu Xiu escaped, leaving behind the wonder of "the world's double thorns are straight at one place", which is still talked about by people today. It's amazing!
Liu Xiu fled to the Niujiazhuang Fort on Shuangci Slope and found that the fort resembled the back of an ox. The ox was a Nanshan tiger, and Liu Xiu was a tiger star. He happily said, "I have I got on the back of this sacred cow, and the sacred cow saved me and the country of the Han Dynasty." Later, Liu Xiu became the emperor, and Niujiazhuang changed Niujiazhuang to Shangniu Village according to the emperor's words. In the Qing Dynasty, the name of the Niu Village on the lower slope was changed to Xia Niu to correspond to the Shangniu Village on the slope. Village means the cattle village down the slope.
In fact, the loess slope between Xianniu Village and Shangniu Village is the Shuangthorn Slope, which is about three miles long, long and steep. From the Han Dynasty to the Republic of China, it has been a thousand-year-old official road connecting the north and the south. It is a must-pass for carriages and horses traveling from south to north. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was the main channel for transporting coal from the north to the south. This ordinary loess slope has an extraordinary story. It is amazing that there are legends and stories everywhere in China!
Perhaps it is the royal charm left behind by the Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty who passed by this place, or perhaps it is the pursuit and inheritance of the royal legacy by the Xianniu people for generations. As time goes by, the cultural heritage of Xianniu Village and Xianniu people has become stronger and stronger. In today's new era of rural revitalization and cultural inheritance, with the attention and support of the Chaijia Township Party Committee and the government, with the active planning of Du Zhentang, the Chaijia Township Branch of the Hejin Elderly Calligraphers and Painters Association, and with the strong support of the Xianniu Village Party Branch Village Committee, the next The Shuangcipo Painting and Calligraphy Society in Niucun came into being. A group of people who love calligraphy and painting, literature, couplets, and music gathered in the calligraphy and painting club. Painting masters Du Guitang and Du Yongzhang, calligraphy masters Du Zhentang and Du Xutang, poetry connoisseurs Li Jianze, Du Honggang, Du Xiaotang, Du Hongbin, Gao Jianxiong, etc., are all impressive talents.
On the day when the Shuangcipo Calligraphy and Painting Club was established on August 18 with the participation of the head of the township party committee and the head of the Municipal Elderly Calligraphers and Painters Association, the calligraphy and painting works, poetry and prose exhibition in the calligraphy and painting club , a dazzling array of colors and colors that are breathtaking. Xianiu Village has such strong cultural strength. It is really not simple for a small village with less than 2,000 people! In the upsurge of rural revitalization, it is admirable that the main person in charge of the party and government in Chaijia Township and the village committee of the Xianiu Village Party Branch have such a high level of understanding and support the development of village cultural undertakings. This move will surely play an immeasurable role in inheriting and carrying forward Chinese traditional culture, enriching rural cultural life, enriching spiritual cultivation, and promoting rural revitalization.
