I have been practicing hard-pen calligraphy recently. I listened to friends’ recommendations and bought some pens to try. Today I will share them:
First of all, let me popularize the tips of fountain pens. Classification, many brands of fountain pens are now generally classified according to: EF (extra fine), F (fine), M (medium), and B (thick).
1. Platinum PreppyII PPQ300
This pen should be regarded as the first fountain pen I bought since I started working. Because I have used gel pens before, I haven’t used fountain pens in a long, long time.
Platinum is a Japanese brand. The model of this pen is PPQ-300. The pen barrel is made of resin and the pen tip is made of stainless steel. You can use disposable ink bags or ink absorbers to absorb ink. I didn’t read the product description carefully when I bought it online. When I received it, it had an EF tip (0.38mm) and the lines I wrote were super thin. As someone who is used to using 0.5 gel pens, I was really not used to it.
However, I think this pen is suitable for writing in thin gold style.
2. SKY Baifeng
I first saw the Baifeng pen on the Mijia Youpin APP. I thought it was Xiaomi’s own fountain pen. But in fact, the manufacturer of this pen is called KACO, which should be a domestic brand. Their rainbow pen was very popular on the Internet.
SKY Baifeng claims that the pen barrel is made of PC material from Bayer, Germany, and the nib, feed and ink absorber are all imported from Germany.
It also matches many colors. I chose orange, which feels more energetic. You can also choose from blue, titanium gray, and pearl white.
The pen tip of this pen is an EF tip, and the official introduction is that the stitch thickness is 0.3mm~0.4mm.
The writing effect of this pen is quite good, the lines are thicker than the platinum EF tip, and you will get a pen box when you buy it. The price is 49 yuan, which is not expensive.
3. Baile 78G
At present, apart from LAMY, Japan’s Baile pens are very popular.
LAMY is still too expensive, the cheapest is a few hundred, and the more expensive ones are thousands. I'd better use Baile!
The Baile 78G uses a rotating pen cap, the pen barrel is made of resin, and the pen tip is made of titanium. I bought it on Tmall for 95 yuan.
I chose the M tip (equivalent to 0.5mm~0.6mm gel pen)
4. True color pen FP6328
True color is still the best in the country Quite famous.
Taobao 9 yuan 9 with free shipping. The pen tip is 0.5mm and comes with six ink bags. It supports an ink absorber to absorb ink. The appearance is very similar to Lingmei.
I was very curious about the 9 yuan 9 pen, so I tried to buy one and try it out to see if it was cheap but not good. But the overall writing effect is okay, and the price is enough value.
In general:
The above four pens are all entry-level pens. If you want to buy a bigger brand, you can choose Baile G78, the price is close to 100 yuan; if you want to buy a domestic pen, If you are interested in a new stationery brand, you can consider buying KACO SKY; if you want to buy an ordinary pen at a lower price, you can choose True Color.
As for whether the pen is easy to use or not, it depends on each person’s writing experience. Maybe I think these pens are better, but others may not agree. The so-called good pen means that it doesn’t matter what brand it is, as long as you find it easy to use, easy to write, and comfortable.
