The size of the studio depends on the size of the works that artists usually draw. In other words, the area of the studio depends on the scale of the artist's own works, which is generally not less than12m2. In order to observe the overall effect of the work, there should be a backward-looking distance space. The ideal workspace is 5m×6m. In addition to the necessary painting equipment, the painting room should also have space for storing works; A bookcase for storing books and materials; Special table for reading and drawing creative drafts or designs; Folding sofa for resting, chatting or placing models; A white screen used to block or soften light and shadows.
The walls of the studio can be white, but the ceiling and floor should not be made of reflective materials. Especially the ceiling, it is best not to use white decorative materials. You can use a wooden ceiling and polish it, because the warm color of the wooden ceiling can neutralize the cold color produced by the white wall and balance the color of the light. At the same time, diffused light will not become astigmatism because of too much reflection. The color of the ground is dark and neutral.
In addition, the best choice for the studio should be a place with convenient transportation and isolation.
(2) Lighting conditions
Color can only be visually perceived through light, so the studio has higher requirements for lighting. Modern painters prefer to work in natural light, which has sufficient light sources and is suitable for both rigidity and flexibility. Shading is the best lighting window in the studio. If it is sunrise, white curtains are needed to soften the sunlight. Studio should avoid plane lighting, because plane lighting is not conducive to sketching, and the ideal sketching light should have a certain directionality, that is, the light projected from a higher window has a certain inclination. Top light is an ideal light for human body sketch, which can be obtained by skylight illumination. Under the top light, the subtle structural changes of the human body are clearer and easier to observe and express. Therefore, it is necessary to set the skylight in the spray booth.
Most painters use natural light to paint during the day. Of course, this does not mean that painters can't use artificial light to paint. Some painters use light to create or sketch, but because incandescent light is warmer and fluorescent light is colder, it is better to use both kinds of light for painting. 60-watt fluorescent light bulbs can be added with 100 watt bulbs. Because the fluorescent lamp body is too long, it can be condensed by using shorter fluorescent lamps side by side. The biggest advantage of artificial light is that it can adjust the irradiation direction of light according to the needs of sketching.
