Content abstract: Chen Chuanxi, an art historian, commented on the famous artists and figures in the field of modern painting in China, which was compiled according to the columns of the same name in Jiangsu Pictorial and other magazines in recent years, and many of them caused a shock after being published. The author digs deeply into people who have been neglected for a long time, and discusses some phenomena and problems of Chinese painting while making impression criticism. The brushwork of prose culture is full of literati temperament, which shows the author's sense of social responsibility and critical spirit as an intellectual.

Professor Chen Chuanxi is one of the most famous art historians and theorists in China, and also an insightful humanist. He has published 28 books, including Studies on Painting in the Six Dynasties, History of Landscape Painting in China, History of Chinese Painting, and Purple Sand Art in China, which have caused widespread influence at home and abroad. In the field of modern theory, Chen Chuanxi advocated masculinity to inspire the national spirit; Advocating "positive" and "big" weather and the style of the times, and opposing colonial culture all have considerable appeal and play a role in bringing order out of chaos in the development of art. The authoritative publication Art (1990, 10) once revealed that the research intensity of Chen Chuanxi's art history theory ranks first in China. 1February 2, 9961The front page of the calligraphy guide reported: "Mr. Chen Chuanxi is recognized by art theorists at home and abroad as the art theorist with the highest research ability and depth score." Chen Chuanxi has written a large number of literary criticism articles, and most of his important views on literature and art can be attributed to related theories. We are going to compile another Collection of Chen Chuanxi's Literary Criticism, so his critical articles are basically not in this collection. In order to fully reflect the breadth and depth of his theory, we only selected and recorded his comments on the late painter, his mature painters and influential painters, as well as some essays in classical Chinese, and the rest were not accepted, hoping that the painter could understand.
