Throughout China's book history and calligraphy theory, there are many discussions about the charm of calligraphy, among which there are many insights. Some people think that the charm of calligraphy, like calligraphy statutes, can be taught by example; Others think that the charm of calligraphy is mysterious, only writers can enjoy it, and appreciators can get information, but those who want to learn can't. So what is the charm of calligraphy? China's painters and painting theorists have talked a lot about this: some think emptiness and emptiness are verve, while others think emptiness and clearness are verve. Fan Wen in Song Dynasty made an exploratory explanation in his poems. He said: more meaning means rhyme, less meaning means rhyme, and rhyme is better than exaggeration. Some also regard verve and verve as one, while others regard verve and verve as two. The former is like Tang Qizhi of the Ming Dynasty. He said: The man who covers the sky has a pen and ink color, momentum, tolerance and vitality, which is called rhyme here. The latter is like the next generation of Hao Jing and Ceng Yun: the angry heart follows the script, but the image is not confused. Rhyme, hidden and positive, comes prepared. In fact, the two are completely the same thing. Rhyme originally refers to the rhyme of phonology, and later it is widely used in artistic creation and theory, not only to express aftertaste, but also to express aftertaste, meaning, interest, artistic conception and so on. Charm refers to the spiritual connotation of calligraphy, charm refers to expression, and rhyme refers to the interest contained in expression; Yun Qi means anger, and rhyme means anger. God must have rhyme, rhyme comes from God, rhyme comes from qi, and qi is full of rhyme. Throughout the history of calligraphy and painting, there have been many explanations of verve, which are roughly as follows:
One is vivid charm. Fang Qingyun: Charm is vivid, so we must understand the word vivid. If you can be vivid, you will be free. Qian Zhongshu spoke more thoroughly: Sheikh vividly explained the charm, charm and vividness.
The second is the theory of verve or mode. Weng Fanggangyun: Charm is another name for style. Although, in a word, the style of writing is solid and illusory, the style of writing is dull and vivid, and the style of writing is not traceable. What needs to be pointed out here is that style originally refers to the metrical tone of poetry, and later it is used in artistic creation, generally referring to style and mood. If style only refers to meter and tone, literary works with high style may not have charm, just as calligraphy with statutes may not have charm, so calligraphy works with verve may not have high style, but calligraphy works with high style must have verve.
The third is the theory that charm is interest. Ming Tu Longyun: The fun is in front of the pen, so the painting is full of energy. Zhang Xu's interest is long and short, Si Kongtu's image outside the image, Yan Yu's interest, etc. Can be attributed to the interest theory.
The fourth is the theory that verve is artistic conception. Artistic conception refers to the author's observation, thinking and experience of some phenomena in nature and life, and reveals his thoughts, emotions and artistic accomplishment in his works by using skillful pen and ink skills, which runs through the whole work. Liu Gangji said: ... the beauty of artistic conception was called God, God, Qi, God and so on by the ancients. Tang is a cursive calligrapher. He often observes the shapes of things, and gets inspiration from contending for Tao, playing syllables and dancing gestures, connecting the art of calligraphy with the images of things, and realizing God by brushwork. Du Fu praised his cursive script: jade moves, the mountains are loose and straight, and the mountains are even. During this period, it rose and the power of the pen ... the monarch was the master, and his thoughts turned to extremes in his later years. The elements of artistic conception of calligraphy include the unity of emotion and reason, the unity of form and spirit, and the unity of pen and ink and text content. The charm of reading can be ignored, and pondering its artistic conception is combined with the content of writing. Because the artistic conception is not only the mental outlook of an image contained in the verve, but also the inspiration given by the content attached to the pen and ink. In addition, verve also has style in art and other aspects.
As long as you practice more and appreciate more, your charm is understandable.
