Known as the second running book in the world is

Known as the second running script in the world, it is a manuscript for offering sacrifices to nephews.

Introduction to the work:

The Manuscript for Sacrificing a Nephew is a calligraphy work created by Yan Zhenqing, a calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, in the first year of Gan Yuan in the Tang Dynasty (758). It is now in the National Palace Museum in Taipei. The manuscript of "Sacrificing My Nephew" is Yan Jiming's manuscript, which is a memorial to his nephew. * * * 23 lines, 234 words.

This manuscript describes how Yan Gaoqing and his son Changshan magistrate stood up and rebelled loyally during the Anshi Rebellion, which led to the death of their father. Throughout the pen, I feel like a tide, the calligraphy is magnificent, and the vertical pen is bold and unconstrained.

Creative background:

In Tianbao 14th year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, An Lushan rebelled and "An Shi Rebellion" broke out. In the first month of the following year, the rebel Shi Siming captured Changshan, Yan Gaoqing and his youngest son were arrested and killed one after another, and Yanshi's family was killed more than 30 times. In the first year of Tang Suzong, Yan Zhenqing ordered the first skeleton to be transported back to Hebei. When he was writing a composition, he was sad and angry. He couldn't help it.

Art appreciation:

In terms of structure, The Draft for Sacrificing a Nephew broke the elegant style of dense structure and slightly long font since Jin and Tang Dynasties, and formed an open attitude, which was broad and fair. First, it is wide and stretched, and it is tight outside and loose inside. Don't pick out too many words, but make a bad meal, such as years old, e, Xu, thief, me, "disability" and "zai" This is the typical place where Yan characters are put in and taken out.

Second, multi-lateral expansion, left and right opposite, opposite or in the same direction. Especially the opposite side is vertical, so that the traditional inner arc is opposite to the outer arc. Such as "Zhou Pu, Danyang, Founding, Drawing, Opening and Closing", make the font opening changeable. Proper density, complement each other. This is the innovation of Yan style calligraphy, and also the expression of Yan style's generous structure characteristics.

Third, the momentum is awe-inspiring, but it contains strange risks. As can be seen from the manuscript of Sacrificing a Nephew, the pitch of some words has changed greatly, which coincides with Yan Zhenqing's inner tragic psychology, and the emotional laissez-faire in writing is the inevitable reason for this phenomenon. This is rarely seen in scripts that have been run before.
