If it is just a formality

If it is just a recording of the scenery

If it is just a trip in the name of practice

If it is just a text To express a kind of reputation

It is better to go home and work in the fields

The floating clouds will not fall to the ground

The dust on the ground cannot climb the ladder

4. Character introduction

There are two Buddhist historical figures in Mianshan who are milestones in the development of Buddhism. One is Tan Luan, the founder of Pure Land Sect. The second one is Zhichao, the only Han Chinese who became a Buddha.

Master Tanluan, the founder of the Pure Land

According to the records in the Tang Dynasty's "Extended Biography of Eminent Monks: Tanluan Biography" and our research, Master Tanluan was tired from annotating the "Daji Sutra" in Mount Wutai. He got sick and sought medical treatment everywhere. He traveled to Tailing in Fenzhou and suddenly saw the Tianmen Cave opened. After being enlightened by King Kong Buddha, he came to Baofu Temple in Mianshan and retreated in the practice cave to nourish his qi. "Miscellaneous Pills for Treating All Diseases" and other volumes of health-preserving and curing diseases. Later, he returned to Luoyang from Nanliang. After meeting the Bodhisattva Liuzhi who specialized in cultivating the Pure Land, he became famous. He was named "Shenluan" as the master of Wei, and he was ordered to live in Dayan Temple in Bingzhou, that is, Baofu Temple in Mianshan. In the next ten years or so, Tan Luan successively wrote two volumes of "Annotation on the Past Life", one volume of "Stanzas in Praise of Amitabha", and one volume of "A Brief Discussion on the Meaning of the Pure Land of Peace and Happiness". Because there were too many monks and believers who worshiped Tanluan at that time, Baofu Temple could no longer accommodate it. Tanluan "flew to the opposite mountain overnight" and founded the Tiefo Temple and opened a lecture platform. Later generations called it "Luan Gongyan" ". During this period, he often traveled between Fenjie and Xuanzhong Temple in Shibi to promote the Pure Land. In the fourth year of Xinghe's reign in the Wei Dynasty, Tan Luan passed away in the cave of the temple and was molded by his disciples. Later, the war destroyed it. During the Tang Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, Huizhen, the abbot of Huiluan Temple, petitioned Emperor Xizong to build a stupa and reshape the golden body. .

There is now a practice cave for Patriarch Tan Luan in Baofu Temple. In front of the cave, there is a stele of "Tan Luan's Practice Notes" from the Ming Dynasty and several steles of famous people's travel notes. The golden statue of Tan Luan is enshrined in the main hall of Zhengguo Temple. (Mainly videos of Buddha statues from Zhengguo Temple)

Master Kongwang Buddha Zhichao

According to Buddhist scriptures: Kongwang Buddha is the same ancestor of Sakyamuni Buddha and Amitabha Buddha. Therefore, Baofu Temple is a thousand-year-old temple with the same origin as Zen and Zen, and a dual practice of Zen and Purity. According to legend, Zhichao is the living Buddha who was reincarnated by King Kong Buddha. His common surname is Tian, ??his ancestral home is Feng Yi, Shaanxi, and he later moved to Yuanwu, Yuci, Shanxi. At the age of twenty-seven, he ran away from home due to persecution due to people's petition. He became a disciple of Huizan, an eminent monk of Kaihua Temple in Mengshan Mountain, Taiyuan, and became a disciple of Daochuo, another master of the Pure Land Sect. Later he was sent to Zhending, Hebei to participate in the establishment of Linji Sect. In the first year of Wude, he led more than 20 disciples to Chang'an to participate in the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. They were treated with special courtesy by Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, "treating him like an immortal". Wude traveled to Baofu Temple in Mianshan for five years. In the 14th year of Zhenguan, there was a severe drought in Chang'an. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty prayed to Mianshan for rain, and sure enough, rain fell from the sky. In the spring of the following year, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty personally came to Mianshan to pay homage to the Buddha and thank him for the rain, and happened to meet Zhichao's death. Taizong looked at the sky and sighed: "On this trip, I am looking at the Buddha in the sky." Suddenly, four golden characters "King Kong Ancient Buddha" appeared in the sky above Baofu Temple. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty decreed that Zhichao be named "King Kong Buddha" and built Yunfeng Temple. Zhichao's "sculpted true face" is now enshrined in the Stone Buddha Hall of Baofu Temple. (Pictures of Buddha statues are the main theme) The 12 real body relics enshrined in Zhengguo Temple are called world wonders by experts.

The sound makes the dangerous road tremble with fear. Some people call it the "ladder to heaven" for practitioners. It is difficult to practice cultivation and reach the sky.
