Introduction: Liu Yizheng (1880-1956) was also known as Yimou, also known as Xizhao, also known as Zhifei, and in his later years, he was known as Yuantang. A native of Dantu, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. At the age of 17, he passed the examination as a scholar and later studied at Sanjiang Normal School. Famous scholar, historian, classicist, librarian, calligrapher. Pioneer of modern Chinese historiography, founder of Chinese cultural studies, and master of modern Confucianism. In February 1914, he was employed as a professor of Chinese literature and history at Nanjing Normal University. In 1925, he went north and taught at Tsinghua University, Beijing Women's University and Northeastern University. In 1929, he returned to Nanjing and taught at Central University (renamed Nanjing University in 1949). He also served as the director of Nanjing Library, a member of the Examination Yuan, and a senator of Jiangsu Province. Nanjing University, with Liu Yizheng as one of the two pillars of Nanyong, was the birthplace of the revival of modern Confucianism; the Xueheng School, with Liu Yizheng as the pillar of Chinese studies, became the academic origin of the New Confucianism of later generations.
