Li Hongzhang's Calligraphy

Horizontal batch: happy every day. The couplet comes from a couplet written by Li Hongzhang in his later years, which was posted in Nanjing Li Hongzhang's ancestral hall.

The original text is:

Retirement is not an official, as long as you have money in your pocket, millet in your warehouse and poetry in your stomach, you are the prime minister in the mountains.

Pray for Chinese New Year without taking medicine. I hope you are healthy, carefree, and have no creditors. You are a fairy on the earth.

Horizontal batch: happy every day.

Couplets mean: don't spend too much money in your pocket, just spend enough; There is rice in the warehouse, not too full, just enough to eat, and a roll of favorite books at hand, so that life is comfortable enough, so why pursue the ultimate wealth? As long as the body is not sick, the heart is not sad, and no creditors come to the door, it can be called a fairy day.
