Mixing involves two aspects, one is the mixture of complexity and simplicity in the same word (that is, semi-simple and semi-complex), and the other is the mixture of complexity and simplicity in different words in a calligraphy work, such as writing "the lonely sail is far away from the sky, but the Yangtze River flows" as "the lonely sail is far away from the sky, but the Yangtze River flows", and so on. The mixture of the former is a kind of creation, which has no historical origin and is not standardized. Can't and shouldn't be confused, and it's no different in the world of books. The controversy stems from the latter. Opponents believe that: first, traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters have different historical periods and should be regarded as two systems. If mixed together, it is neither fish nor fowl. Second, calligraphy works are for people to appreciate, and the mixing of traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters can easily cause confusion in the use of words for the appreciators. If the masses (especially teenagers) follow the trend, it will become popular in society, resulting in difficulties and obstacles in simplifying Chinese characters and standardizing the implementation of Chinese characters. The above two reasons should be said to be very reasonable. On the basis of accepting these reasons, the author prefers to allow the mixing of traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters (not the mixing of the characters themselves). The reasons are as follows: First, the mixture of complexity and simplicity is limited to the art of calligraphy. Undoubtedly, the written communication in daily study, work and life should abide by the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on National Common Languages and Characters, and everyone should become a user and promoter of standardizing and simplifying Chinese characters. We believe that with the strengthening of the national legal system, the correct use of Chinese characters will gradually become the conscious action of every citizen. The mixture of complexity and simplicity in calligraphy art will not lead to confusion in the use of Chinese characters in society. This is because: people in the book circle generally belong to "double-character" users, that is, they write standard characters in daily life, while traditional characters, variant characters, ancient characters, inherited characters, popular characters and even obsolete and erroneous characters are written in calligraphy works. At present, there are many calligraphy exhibitions and Copybook for calligraphy's works, with many strokes, few strokes and structural deformation. Many calligraphers also regard this "typo" as a sign of knowledge. Even primary school students learn calligraphy with brush or hard pen and write all kinds of calligraphy (including all kinds of calligraphy styles) since childhood, but quite a few of them are not standard characters, but this is only the original writing method of some standard characters, which does not affect their use of standard characters and simplified characters in their study life. This is a real phenomenon. Second, calligraphy is an art. The main function of calligraphy art is for people to appreciate and enjoy beauty from it. At the same time, it cultivates artistic quality, moral sentiment, purifies the soul and creates exquisite works of art. From this perspective, there is no need to care about traditional Chinese characters or simplified Chinese characters. This is just like calligraphers don't need or care about the strict rules of Chinese character stroke order. Some simplified Chinese characters are not good-looking, and some traditional Chinese characters are not easy to write. If those ugly words are written in traditional Chinese characters, and those difficult words are written in simplified Chinese characters (including simplified words that are difficult to write and simplified words that are not good to look at), we can learn from each other's strengths, innovate and change, and enhance artistic interest and charm. Of course, calligraphers should also be encouraged to exert their subjective initiative, be brave and good at creating new artistic writing methods, and write beautiful words that are not good-looking and beautiful words that are difficult to write. Thirdly, the phenomenon of complexity and simplicity in the same article (this "complexity and simplicity" does not mean complexity, but complexity and simplicity) has existed since ancient times. Wang Xizhi used both "Yu" and "Yu" in Preface to Lanting, of course, because these two words were universal at that time, but "seeking change" was definitely an important reason. Seeking change, regardless of complexity or simplicity, can be said to be everywhere in the works of great calligraphers in past dynasties. Although there are different simplified versions in different periods, they are mostly ignored in use. They often learn from the ancients and pursue the times. Therefore, in today's ancient inscriptions, we can see complex, different, vulgar, inherited and other writing methods. It is precisely because of this that in the dazzling works left over from the prosperous period of calligraphy in past dynasties, the situation of letting a hundred flowers blossom and competing for opening up is reflected. Then, history has developed to this day, but there is only one more simplified word. Why can't we learn from the practices of calligraphers of past dynasties, not only inherit the tradition, but also keep pace with the times and bring forth the new? The back waves of the Yangtze River push the front waves, the front waves of flowing water make the back waves, and the new leaves of Fanglin urge the old leaves. People in the world today are better than the ancients. Today's people will eventually become ancients. Fourth, it is not allowed to mix complexity with simplicity, which conflicts with the font of calligraphy. The standardization of standardized characters does not involve all fonts in calligraphy. That is to say, the carriers of standardized characters are only regular script (mainly used in primary school textbooks) and Song typeface (mainly used for printing Chinese characters, dictionaries and other dictionaries), but there are no standard characters such as running script, running script, official script and regular script. From the point of view of calligraphy, of course, these fonts also have their own standardization problems, but this standardization belongs to the artistic category, not to the legal category like standardizing words. In addition, there are many contradictions and misjudgments when it comes to these fonts, such as running script, running script, running script, official script and regular script, due to the restriction that complex and simplified characters cannot be mixed. It is very common to mistake the cursive writing of the running script for the use of simplified characters. For example, in the running script, the traditional Chinese character "Lou" is written as "Lou", "Wei" is written as "Wei" and "Wei" is written as "Wei". But are there simplified characters in the cursive script? There are really many people who don't understand. If the mixture of complex and simple is allowed, this misjudgment will be avoided immediately.
5. Traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters cannot be mixed, which restricts the development of calligraphy art ... First, regardless of traditional Chinese characters or simplified Chinese characters, no matter how high the level, calligraphers also have words that they think are not good at writing, which further reduces the probability of calligraphers creating fine works. Second, after all, calligraphers are not all philologists, their main task is to beautify the characters, and it is normal to occasionally ignore the distinction between complexity and simplicity of the characters. Not allowing strict control of mixing will often kill some high-level works. At the same time, some judges often misjudge the works because they don't use Chinese characters correctly. These negative effects are not conducive to the innovation and all-round development of calligraphy art. To sum up, there are not many reasons to prohibit the mixing of complexity and simplicity in calligraphy works. At least, the works that are not mixed should be allowed to exist in calligraphy art. The Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on National Common Language and Characters allows the preservation and use of traditional Chinese characters and variant Chinese characters in cultural relics, surnames, calligraphy seal-cutting works, handwritten inscriptions, signboards, etc., which shows that the law also treats calligraphy art and characters separately. At the same time, it also shows that this "permission" does not affect the promotion of standardized words and simplified words. Then, by the same token, allowing simplified characters to coexist with traditional characters and variant characters in calligraphy works will not affect the standardization and standardization of Chinese characters. As a calligrapher or calligrapher, there is no need to set an unwritten rule of "no mixing" without legal basis to limit the diversity and variability of calligraphy art, and to give calligraphy lovers and calligraphers a free world, which is beneficial and harmless to present and future generations.
