Chinese language and literature majors offer 10 compulsory courses, including introduction to literature, writing, modern Chinese, ancient Chinese, introduction to linguistics, ancient literature in China, modern and contemporary literature in China, foreign literature, Chinese teaching theory and aesthetics. More than 30 elective courses have been offered, including literature and folk aesthetics, Shaanxi literature studies, Chinese dialects, western literary theory, contemporary literary trends, an introduction to film and television art, calligraphy and so on. Since 10, teachers of this major have undertaken 40 teaching and scientific research projects, including 2 national social science fund projects, 4 provincial government projects and 13 provincial education department projects. The teaching facilities are complete and the teaching methods are flexible and diverse. This major mainly cultivates advertising senior professionals with advertising theoretical skills and extensive cultural and scientific knowledge, who can engage in advertising management, advertising planning creativity and design and production in advertising companies, news media advertising departments, market research and information consulting industries, enterprises and institutions.
