"Shu Duanzhou County Zhaibi"
Author: Bao Zheng
Purifying the heart is the root cause, and straightness is the strategy of the body.
Good work will eventually build a building, and fine steel will not serve as a hook.
The mice and birds are happy when the warehouse is full, but the rabbits and foxes are sad when the grass is gone.
There are lessons in history, don’t bring shame to those who come.
Translation:
Purifying the soul is to improve one’s moral cultivation; being honest and serving the public is what I do for myself. Definite official purpose. Upright and capable people, like tall and straight tree trunks, will eventually become the pillars of society; just like pure steel, they will not be used to make hooks. Those corrupt officials are like mice and sparrows, they are filled with joy when they see the granary is full; they are like foxes and rabbits, they are miserable when they see that the weeds have been removed and they have nowhere to hide. We must learn from the teachings on conduct and conduct left by sages in ancient books, and we must not incur the ridicule of future generations.
The author Bao Zheng is honest and just, resolute in establishing the government, not attached to the powerful, selfless, and wise and decisive. He dares to appeal for injustice on behalf of the people, so he is known as "Bao Qingtian" and "Bao Gong", and the capital has "joints" If you don't arrive, there will be a saying "Yam Luo Bao Lao". Later generations worshiped him as a god and believed that he was the reincarnation of Kuixing. Due to his black-faced image among the people, he was also called "Bao Qingtian".
