The four arts usually refer to the four arts admired and mastered by China literati, namely, piano, chess, calligraphy and painting. They are also called "Four Literati Arts" or "Four Literati Arts". "Qin" refers to playing the piano (mostly guqin), "chess" refers to playing chess (mostly Weiqi and China chess), "book" refers to calligraphy, and "painting" refers to painting.
Guqin, also known as lyre, Qin Yu and lyre, is one of the oldest plucked instruments in China. Guqin was popular in the era of Confucius, with a written history of more than 4000 years. According to historical records, guqin appeared not later than Yao and Shun. At the beginning of this century, in order to distinguish western musical instruments, the word "Gu" was added in front of "Qin", which was called "Guqin".
