On June 3, 2008, the calligraphy and painting exhibition and collection launch ceremony of the late Linzhou calligrapher and painter Mr. Peng Tiangui was held at the city’s cultural center. His passionate calligraphy and painting works have been widely praised by all walks of life.
Peng Tiangui was born in Shangtao Village, Lin County in October 1937. In 1955, after graduating from Anyang No. 2 Normal University, he was assigned to work in education in a rural primary school in a mountainous area. In 1958, he was transferred to the Linxian Cultural Center to engage in art work, and became a member of the Henan Artists Association. He served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Linzhou CPPCC, a director of the Anyang Artists Association, and a member of the Henan Landscape Painting Research Association.
In the 1960s, the heroic people of Lin County did not succumb to fate. Under the leadership of the party, they dug holes into the mountains and built the artificial Tianhe Red Flag Canal, which is about 1,500 kilometers long. Peng Tiangui witnessed the entire process of building the Red Flag Canal and was shocked by the magnificence of the Red Flag Canal and the great spirit of the Red Flag Canal. Painting the Red Flag Canal, Taihang Mountains and Lin County people became his lifelong pursuit. In order to complete the long scroll "Lifeline Map" of the Red Flag Canal, he walked for more than 100 kilometers, along the main canal of the Red Flag Canal, through mountains and ridges, and personally experienced the spectacular scene of a hundred thousand troops fighting against Taihang. He traced the journey back to the head of the Hongqi Canal in Shanxi Province, recalling the scene of migrant workers jumping into the waist-deep Zhang River and holding hands to intercept the river water from flowing into the canal; he climbed the towering cliffs of Taihang to appreciate the "Youth Cave" project He crossed the deep and empty Taoyuan Canyon and looked at the majestic appearance of the "Taoyuan Aqueduct" flying over the mountain stream. Infected and inspired by the builders of the Hongqi Canal who were not afraid of hardships, had the courage to sacrifice, worked together, and worked hard, he drew countless sketches with charcoal sticks and pencils, accumulated profound realistic skills, and laid a solid foundation for creation. . He conveyed the Hongqi Canal in his heart on rice paper and colored ink every stroke, and poured his true feelings for the children of Taihang into each painting. Today, the seven-meter-long traditional Chinese painting "Lifeline Picture", which is the masterpiece of Peng Tiangui's hard work and depicts the magnificent panorama of the Red Flag Canal, is collected by the Linzhou Municipal Cultural Center and is regarded as a treasure of the museum.
Peng Tiangui specializes in landscape painting, and his meticulous landscapes are the most eye-catching. In terms of painting techniques, he not only used the techniques of chapping, rubbing, blurring and dyeing in traditional Chinese color and ink painting, but also absorbed the use and techniques of light in Western painting, and boldly processed the contrast between light and dark and high light. Standing against the sun, it is covered with a faint crimson. The backlight is outlined with dry brush and smudged with thick ink to highlight the three-dimensional effect; the blue water flows among the mountains, like clouds and water. The use of traditional painting methods makes the picture appear Thick yet ethereal; some cliffs correspond to cliffs, or they are connected with pavilions and buildings, making the picture blend and change. He has a work that is half meticulous and half freehand brushwork. In the work, he uses dry brush and dry ink to outline mountains, rocks, figures, cattle and sheep, and uses the rubbing technique to draw the stone surface. At the same time, he uses wet brush and thick ink to render the clouds and smoke in corresponding places, forming a The strong contrast between dark and light dry and wet colors makes it appear misty and misty, with clouds and mist lingering in it. It is smooth but not sluggish, free and unrestrained but not stiff, harmonious and vivid. His freehand sketches seem to be picked up casually, but they are full of interest.
The Tianhe River still circles Taihang, and the mountain souls echo back with a long voice. Peng Tiangui dedicated his life to the art of calligraphy and painting, to the Taihang Mountains, and to the people of Lin County. His wish to hold an art exhibition was not realized during his lifetime. He left in a hurry before the beautiful paintings created with his heart and blood could be opened for people to appreciate.
In order to commemorate Mr. Peng Tiangui’s deep love for his hometown, on the tenth anniversary of his death, Linzhou City held an exhibition of Peng Tiangui’s calligraphy and painting works, dedicating his calligraphy and painting works to the elders in his hometown. If Mr. Soul has knowledge, There must be a smile on Jiuquan's face.
