Mr. Nan Huaijin’s discussion of Confucius\Mencius, etc. is different from ancient times and our usual understanding. Please tell me how to view this phenomenon?

I think this is normal

In fact, since Confucius and Mencius, their interpretations have been very different, even completely opposite. The ancients’ understanding of Confucius and Mencius generally inherited Dong Zhongshu’s Thought, in the Song Dynasty, Confucianism made another big leap. Our modern society is very different from ancient times. It is not only affected by the trend of historical development, but also by the trend of Western thought. Therefore, the interpretation of Confucius and Mencius will of course be different or even very different.
