Wu Zhongqi

Wu Zhongqi (197—26), a native of Changqing, Jinan, Shandong Province, and a former member of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress. Director of China Calligraphers Association, Chairman of Jiangsu Calligraphers Association and Vice President of Jiangsu Painting Academy. Young people are addicted to calligraphy, because their families are poor, they can only use green hemp as a pen, square bricks as paper, and clear water instead of ink. At the age of 8, he wrote the inscription of Jiuchenggong Liquan, and after three years, he studied the rubbings of Zheng Wengong Monument and stone valley, catching up with Qin and Han Dynasties and attacking epigraphy. He took part in the revolution at an early age, and still devoted himself to calligraphy and seal. During War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, he wrote many books for the revolutionary martyrs monument. Truth, grass, seal and official script all have profound skills, and the book style is vigorous and vigorous. Calligraphy works have participated in the first, second, third and fourth national calligraphy seal cutting exhibitions and Sino-Japanese calligraphy exchange exhibitions. In 198, he was invited to visit Japan. Since 1981, China Calligraphy Association, Jiangsu Chinese Painting Academy, General Political Department of China People's Liberation Army and Ministry of Culture have held "Wu Zhongqi Calligraphy Exhibition" in Jinan, Nanjing and Beijing respectively. He joined the revolution in his early years, not only as a commander with many battles and outstanding achievements, but also as a famous calligrapher with both virtue and art. When Shanghai was liberated, at the request of Comrade Liu Changsheng, he wrote huge characters such as "Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions" and "Proletarians all over the world unite" for the book of Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions Building. Written the plaque of "Shanghai Municipal People's Government" at the order of Mayor Chen Yi. Chen Yi once said, "Seven Chinese characters indicate the birth of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government". He also inscribed such plaque signs as Nanjing Stomatological Hospital, Jinan Massacre Site, Jinan Mansion and Jinan Children's Hospital. Wu Zhongqi Calligraphy Exhibition Hall is built in Jinan Wulongtan Park. He died of illness in Nanjing on March 29th, 26 at the age of one hundred.
