Cao Baolin, a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, is a famous calligrapher, calligrapher theorist, scholar, professor and doctoral supervisor in contemporary China, director of the Calligraphy Research Institute of Jinan University, academic member of China Calligraphers Association, member of Canglang Bookstore and vice chairman of the International Calligraphy Association.

His calligraphy works won numerous awards in the National Calligraphy Competition, won the first prize in the First National College Student Calligraphy Competition 1982, won the special prize in the First China Pen Calligraphy Competition, won the "National Award" in the Fifth National Calligraphy Exhibition, and won the second prize (the highest prize) in the Outstanding Achievement Award of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education. He has published Bao Weng Ji, China Calligraphy History, Song Liao Golden Volume, China Calligraphy Complete Works, Cai Xiang and Mi Fei Calligraphy Complete Works, China Calligraphy Complete Works, Northern Song Dynasty Masters Volume and Cao Baolin Calligraphy Selected Works.
