Mr. Chen Tiesheng learned poetry from Chen Zhen in his early years, and learned calligraphy from Wang Weizu of Jiangyin in his middle age. I first studied calligraphy after the Northern Wei Dynasty and adopted the methods of the Jin and Tang Dynasties. I also dabbled in various schools of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, and I have a particularly deep understanding of Li Beihai and Huang Gushan. He is good at a variety of calligraphy styles and is good at running script in small regular script. The regular script he writes is straight like Yu and Chu, round and elegant. When running, he uses seal script to refer to the stele. It is warm, mellow, vigorous, vertical and horizontal, and elegant. He is one of the powerful contemporary calligraphers.
In his early years, he studied at Wenzhou Oujiang Primary School (today’s Guangzhou Road Primary School) and Wenzhou Middle School. Before liberation, he worked in the land administration department and lived in Ningbo at the beginning of liberation. Due to political reasons, he was in a difficult situation, so he later borrowed his skills in seal engraving and made a living by engraving seals. Although he went through ups and downs, he lived in poverty and was happy. Therefore, he is broad-minded, upright, and has a majestic air. In his later years, he was constantly in the pool, indifferent to fame and fortune, and had a transcendent realm.
