1, the rise of official script. During the Western Han Dynasty, official script gradually became the mainstream writing form, which was characterized by thick strokes and simple structure. Compared with the slender and complicated seal script, official script is more suitable for writing long articles and official documents. Therefore, in the Western Han Dynasty, the writing form of official script was more widely used in calligraphy and inscriptions.
2. Create a regular script. During the Western Han Dynasty, some calligraphers began to try to combine the characteristics of seal script, official script and cursive script to form a new writing form-regular script. Regular script is not only more regular in font structure than official script, but also has great changes in stroke thickness and structure. This writing form gradually matured in the Western Han Dynasty.
3. The styles of inscriptions are diversified. Although Xiao Zhuan was the main writing form in the Western Han Dynasty, besides Xiao Zhuan, some other writing forms appeared in the inscriptions in the Western Han Dynasty, such as official script, cursive script and regular script. These different writing forms influence each other and learn from each other, forming a variety of inscription styles.
Therefore, the influence of seal script on the inscriptions in the Western Han Dynasty is relatively small, mainly because the rise of official script and the establishment of regular script, as well as the diversification of the styles of inscriptions, made the position of seal script in calligraphy and inscriptions gradually decline.
