In the 21st year of Kaiyuan (AD 733), he was a Jinshi, and served as a county commandant in Nanhe, xing zhou (now Xingtai, Hebei). He was promoted to be a clerk of Long Wu Jun for administrative reasons and joined the army. Later, he resigned from the army because of a foot injury caused by a car accident. In the 23rd year of Kaiyuan (AD 735), he was transferred to Lushan County, and lived in Luhun three years later. Tianbao died in Luhun Mountain, Henan Province on September 29th, 12th year (The Tomb of Yuanlushan talks about the 13th year of Tianbao, see Old Tang Book). His moral character is noble, he is knowledgeable, he is honest and upright, and he is famous all over the world. He won people's respect and love, and was called Dr. Lushan and Yuan Lushan by the world. Known by the people of Lushan Mountain as Yuan Qingtian and Yuan Immortal, he built a piano platform for him in the county town, which is known as "good governance of piano platform" in history. After his death, he was called Mr. Wen Xing by his disciples and students. Li Hua, a famous writer in the Tang Dynasty, wrote the Epitaph of Yuan Lushan Mountain (preface) for him, and Jie Yuan, a writer, wrote the Epitaph of Yuan Lushan Mountain for him. Yan Zhenqing, a great calligrapher, inscribed it, and Li, an essayist and sculptor, engraved it, which is called "Four Musts". His deeds go down in history and are widely circulated among the people. Since the Tang Dynasty, many historical celebrities and scholars have written poems in praise.

" At that time, his brother's son was orphaned in infancy and had no money to hire a wet nurse. Xiu De fed him himself until his nephew could eat. When my nephew grows up, he wants to marry a daughter-in-law, and his family is very poor, so he asks to be a Lushan county magistrate. A thief was put in prison, and a tiger was doing evil in the local area. The thief asked to kill the tiger and be redeemed, and promised him. An official said to him, "That's a thief's trick. If he escapes in the future, won't you be tied up? " Yuan said, "I have promised him, and I can't break my word." If there is a draw, I should take responsibility and not involve others. " The next day, the thief came back with the tiger's body, and the whole county sighed for it. When Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty was in Du Dong, he once gave a banquet under the Five Peaks Pagoda, and ordered the county magistrate and secretariat within three hundred miles of Fiona Fang to take out songs and get together with him. At that time, it was widely rumored that the emperor would reward and punish the pros and cons. Hanoi satrap's car is full of hundreds of actors, dressed in gorgeous costumes, and some dressed as rhinoceros elephants, which are very novel and beautiful. Only with dozens of actors sang a song called Yu Yongyu. Yu Yongyu is a song written by Xiu De. When the emperor heard this, he was very surprised and said admiringly, "We are singing what the sages said!" Said to the Prime Minister, "I'm afraid all people in Hanoi live a miserable life?" So the prefect was removed and Yuan Dexiu became more famous. Yuan Dexiu's salary is used for food and clothing for orphans and abandoned children. A year later, there was only a thin trace of bamboo basket he used to pack things, and he left the office with a firewood train. He liked the beautiful scenery of Luhun, so he settled down. His house has no walls, no locks, no servants and concubines. In famine years, sometimes I don't cook all day. He likes drinking and playing the piano to amuse himself. Yuan is good at writing articles, and once wrote an essay "Fu on Scholars". Every time Fang Yi sees him, he always sighs and says, "As long as I see Yuan Zizhi's face, my heart of fame and fortune will be forgotten." Su Yuanming often says to others, "I unfortunately live in a decadent and vulgar environment, and I am not ashamed of meeting Yuan Zizhi." In the thirteenth year of Tianbao, he died in Yuan. When he died, there were only pillows, shoes, bamboo pots and spoons at home. Jie Yuan, the blood brother, was extremely sad when he cried. Someone said, "Is it appropriate for you to cry too sadly?" Jie Yuan said, "You only know that etiquette is excessive, but you don't know that it is sincere. He has never seen anything that people are emotionally addicted and fond of. In his 60-year life, he never approached a woman, faced up to the splendid scenery, pursued wealth, indulged in words and lusted after women. He has never lived in a house more than ten feet long and a teenage servant, nor has he made clothes out of complete cloth and cooked with all kinds of spices. I mourn him to warn those dissolute, greedy and playboy! "
