Difference between Overlapping and Interpolation in Calligraphy

The difference between overlap and interlude in calligraphy: overlap is connected, but interlude is not.

Lapping is a means of connecting strokes in different directions. In cursive script, reduplication is more complicated, which can be roughly divided into the following categories according to the order and staggered form of reduplication:

(1) By appointment

② Cross connection

③ Real connection and semi-virtual and semi-real.

④ Overlapping sequence

Interpolation: Interpolation is a sentence in which the strokes of one part enter the range of another part and are inserted into the space of that part.

Interpolation has two forms. One is the actual insertion of strokes, which means that strokes are actually inserted into the space of another part. Another case is virtual interpolation. The so-called virtual interpolation means that the solid part of a stroke is not inserted into the space of another part. But the stroke force is the space inserted into another part, which seems to make people feel that the stroke is the space inserted into another part. This is a virtual insertion.

The corner formed on the right should be inserted into the gap formed on the left, so that the left and right parts of the left and right structures can better "live in harmony" and the whole Chinese character is integrated.
