Cishou Pagoda is located at the intersection of Changjiang River, Jinshan Road, Runzhou District, Zhenjiang City, and is located at the Jinshan Temple on the top of Jinshan Mountain. It is now a municipal cultural relic protection unit.
The pagoda was built in the Qi and Liang Dynasties of the Southern Dynasties. It was originally two pagodas, named Jianci Pagoda and Jianshou Pagoda. The twin towers stood opposite each other in the north and south, but later collapsed. During the Yuanfu reign of Emperor Zhezong of the Song Dynasty (1098-1100), it was rebuilt into an octagonal seven-story pagoda. The current pagoda was rebuilt by Master Mingming in the third year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty (1569). The tower is about 36 meters high, with brick and wood structure, seven levels and eight sides, which is the symbol of Jinshan. The pagoda was repaired many times during the Tongzhi and Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty.
During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom peasant uprising in the third year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1853), a war destroyed all the Jinshan Temple. Because the main building of Cishou Pagoda is a wood-like brick structure, although the outer eaves of the tower were burned, However, the tower remains. According to research, Jinshan Temple was destroyed in the war and was planned to be rebuilt in the third year of Tongzhi. It was completed in November of the 10th year of Tongzhi (AD 1871). However, Cishou Pagoda still had not repaired its eaves and temples until the 20th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. (1894) was planned for construction. In the 26th year of Guangxu (1900), it was completed in August of 1898, which is the Cishou Pagoda you see now. It stands on several towers and palaces. It has a brick body and wooden eaves, imitating a pavilion style. It has seven levels and eight sides. Each level has doors on four sides. There are stairs spiraling up. There are corridors and railings on each floor to overlook the distance.
