Wu Yusheng is a devout Buddhist layman. In his later years, Wu Yusheng was far from politics and indifferent to the world, but he had a profound Buddhist background. There is a fragrant hall in his home, and he recites the scriptures every day. He also played a great role in the site selection and construction of Zhanshan Temple. Xiaoyushan Zhanshan Jingshe is a place to take care of the elderly and infirm laymen. Xu Xian and many other Buddhist virtues are preached here, among which Wu Yusheng is a frequent visitor. On the way from Fushan Bypass to Zhanshan Jingshe, there is a memorial archway, on which is Wu Yusheng's calligraphy "Back to the Shore". After years of political ups and downs, he has long been bent on becoming a Buddha. While living in Qingdao, Wu Yusheng likes to visit Laoshan Mountain. Accompanied by his second son, Ceng Zhuo, he often went to Laoshan to explore the secret, almost crossing to victory. Ceng Zhuo took a German "Chase" camera and took pictures at any time. Later, the photos gradually took shape and were published by Shanghai Commercial Press. The album * * * contains 32 photos of scenic spots, and all the scenic spots and legends are briefly described in words. It is the earliest published brochure for promoting Laoshan Mountain.
Wu Yusheng was a famous calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. His calligraphy is a beginner of European style, and then he devoted himself to Li Beihai's calligraphy. He can take part in Zhong, Ou, Yan and Liu, with complicated changes, simple and vigorous, strong and strong, thin bones and abundant tendons. Its calligraphy is famous for its sideways and precipitous features, and it has formed its own style. His knot, shrugging, is pulled to the upper right, and the center of gravity is also on the upper right, giving the impression that the word is going to fall to the right. The ways to cause this danger are: big and small, tight and loose, stretching on the left side and shortening on the right side. In addition, his writing style is crisp and decisive, and his brushwork is vigorous and powerful, so his book is magnificent and aggressive. After the age of eighty, his skills have not weakened at all, but have become more vigorous and powerful.
