He He, also known as the Four Scholars of Wu Zhong, Eight Immortals of Drinking and Ten Friends of Immortals, was valued by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty.

Among the many poets in the Tang Dynasty, most of them had the experience of being an official. However, there are many twists and turns among these people who take the road of official career. For example, Li Bai, Du Fu, Wang Wei, Bai Juyi, Liu Yuxi and other big coffee-class figures have all experienced ups and downs, some retired from the mountains, and what's more, they were poor, hungry and cold, and eventually died suddenly.

However, there was a man who had a smooth life and retired to his hometown at the age of 86. Even the emperor once gave him poems and ordered officials from the civil and military departments to see him off. He is the great god He Zhangzhi.

He zhangzhi

He (about 659-744) was born in Yongxing, Yuezhou (now Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang). Poets and calligraphers in Tang Dynasty.

It is no accident that he is so lucky. He Zhangzhi was good at poetry when he was a teenager. In 695, Wu Zetian was awarded Dr. Guo Zisi and moved to Dr. Tai Chang. He is also the first recorded scholar in Zhejiang history.

He zhangzhi

He Zhangzhi started his life after winning the highest prize. On the road of official career, it is all the way up. First, he was awarded Dr. Guo Zisi, and then he was transferred to Dr. Tai Chang. In the 10th year of Kaiyuan (722), Zhang, a calligrapher of Tang Dynasty, recommended him to Tang Academy to participate in the compilation of Six Classics, Selected Works and other books. However, he failed and became an official.

In the 13th year of Kaiyuan (725), he was an assistant minister of the Ministry of Rites and a bachelor of Jixian College. Later, he was transferred to Du Shi, the son of the prince, and served as assistant minister of the Ministry of Industry.

In the 26th year of Kaiyuan (738), he was a guest of honor for the Crown Prince. His doctor's name was Yin Lu and his secretary was in charge, so he was called "He Jian".

He zhangzhi

This is also rare in history, which just shows that he has his own advantages. He is brilliant and good at writing quatrains. Together with Zhang, Zhang Xu and Bao Rong, they are called "four sons of Wuzhong".

With, Lu Zangyong, Song, Gou, Li Bai, Meng Haoran, Wang Wei, Sima, etc. They are called "Ten Friends of the Immortals".

Eight immortals in wine

Most of his last few poems have been lost. The Complete Poems of Tang Dynasty contains 19 poems, two of which were selected as Chinese textbooks. I recited his "Singing Willow" in primary school and read his "Homecoming Book" in junior high school. Everyone is familiar with these two ancient poems, so I won't say much here.

In fact, there have always been two books in my hometown. Except for the song "Young people leave home, old people return, and the local accent has not changed." There's another song. The author takes it out and let's have a look.

He Zhangzhi returned to his hometown.

Return young

[Tang]? He zhangzhi

I have been away from my hometown for many years, and I have been half-dead recently.

Only in front of Jinghu Lake, the spring breeze does not change the waves of the past.

This poem is straightforward, but full of feelings about life. He was a scholar at the age of 37 and retired to his hometown at the age of 86.

In the past 50 years, I can say that most of my life has been spent in a foreign land. Now that I'm back, many old friends have left, only the water in front of Jinghu Lake is rippling under the breeze, just like when I left my hometown.

Back home

When I read this poem, I felt that there was no painting in front of me. A white-haired old man stood in front of Jinghu Lake on crutches and meditated. I can't be calm when I think about people and things before I leave home and see the changes in my hometown.

Yes! How many decades can a person's life last? How many people can accompany you? How much can be done, and how much remains to be done? This will all be over. Who will remember you behind?

Back home

He is lucky to be proud of it. People still remember him long after his death!

His life is a success. For 50 years as an official, I have not experienced ups and downs like others. When he retired, the scenery was boundless. What an honor it is for Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty to send two poems to officials!

They laughed and said, "stranger, where are you from?"

There are two factors that contributed to He's life.

First, he lived in the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, and he met Xuanzong of the Ming Dynasty.

Second, he has real talent and practical learning, is optimistic and open-minded, is willing to make friends, and treats people kindly.

There are two allusions to being open-minded and kind to others.

Eight immortals who drink alcohol

He can drink very much. He and Li Bai are both famous Brewmaster. In Du Fu's Song of Drinking, the first sentence says: "Knowing Zhang is like rowing a boat, lying in the water." It can be seen from this image that he is addicted to alcohol. Riding a horse after getting drunk is as bumpy as taking a boat. I spent all my drinking eyes and fell into the well and fell asleep directly. This is a rare Brewmaster in the world!

He likes to make friends, and it doesn't matter whether he is generous or not. There is such a story:

In the first year of Tang Tianbao (742), the poet Li Bai came to the capital Chang 'an. He has no friends in Chang 'an, so he lives alone in an inn. One day, he visited a famous Taoist temple and met the famous poet He. He Zhangzhi read Li Bai's poems a long time ago, and he appreciated them very much. When he met by chance, he began to have a cordial conversation.

They laughed and said, "stranger, where are you from?"

He asked Li Bai for his new poem. When he finished reading Shu Dao Nan, he said to Li Bai in surprise, "It seems that you are a poet from heaven!" The more they talk, the more speculative they become. Unconsciously, it was dusk, so Zhang invited Li Bai to drink. Hardly had he sat down in the hotel when he remembered that he had no money with him. He thought about it and untied the scarab bag around his waist as a drink. Two people can drink until everyone is slightly drunk. This brewery beetle is a story.

Back home

Later, He Zhangzhi recommended Li Bai to the emperor. The emperor heard about Li Bai for a long time, so he appointed Li Bai as the Hanlin to be summoned. From then on, the two became good friends.

From these things, we can see He's character. This also explains why he was loved by his friends and appreciated by Tang Xuanzong.

Jinghu

I think the way he treats people is also suitable for today's society. As long as you are aboveboard and selfless, there will be many friends around you, and naturally there will be people to help you, and your fate will not be bad.

Friends, do you think what I said is reasonable? Everyone is welcome to express their views.
